I would say Madeline Gates was a higher profile inbound transfer.  (Pre-NIL, grad student, unsolicited transfer, WVB Alll-American at UCLA)

RE: WBB news - BobK - 03-31-2026

In WBB Brooke Smith the top ever transfer

RE: WBB news - BostonCard - 03-31-2026

Yeah, there have been higher profile transfers in history (Glyn Milburn) if you want to go way back.  I was thinking more of transfers in the portal era.

We will periodically pick up a high profile inbound transfer but I expect these will continue to be the exception rather than the rule.

Even harder when the jury is out on the coaching…

RE: WBB news - BobK - 04-01-2026

This is day 5 I believe the jury decided. She’s back it seems. And good news on rivals Join rivals and learn.

RE: WBB news - petersalas - 04-01-2026

Oh no.. I don’t know Rivals and don’t know how to handle this anticipation.. but you said good news so I guess I’ll have to be patient.. I like good news and hope we get more of it because this portal brings so much anxiety.

Stanford.rivals.com, which will redirect you to the correct site (rivals and, earlier, scout) have been through several iterations they’ve been bought and sold. I think rivals is most recently part of the on3 network.

None of this is an endorsement; I don’t subscribe, but is information if you do.

Thank you for the info. I’m not sure my impatience will lead me to pay for a subscription. Maybe it’ll teach me to be more patient. Crossing my fingers for good news only. And I’m already ready to renew season tickets.

Iowa State player Audi Crooks has officially announced entering the portal - ESPN article says that she joins nine other teammates in the portal

RE: WBB news - PVTree - 04-02-2026

Get Audi! I really liked watching her play when she took on Maryland and Stanford 2 years ago. Her teammate, Addy Brown, was also very good.

Tennessee women's basketball transfer tracker for Kim Caldwell 2026-27 roster

lose 6 players to portal, 6 to graduation

RE: WBB news - M T - 04-02-2026

I think it would be disastrous to bring in apples from a barrel that had gone bad. This is the other half of pay to play. Bring in players that have the attitude of looking for greener fields elsewhere will only cause strife within the team. I’d rather have players that band together, roll their sleeves up, and work harder and smarter to do better

Personally I don’t like Crooks’s style of play. But then, my thoughts on players are about as important as the thoughts of anyone else on this board.

she was an honor roll student in high school and at iowa state. that said, she will be very expensive.

Your comment reminded me that some few years ago when this NIL world was opening up, at least in regards to Stanford athletics, I commented that the folks running the NIL for us had a really hard job. Whether inside or outside the University control. It's like the wild west trying to navigate unclear boundaries, a quickly changing playing field, and make totally speculative decisions about what (more so who) will pan out as a great investment and at what realistic price on limited funds. Reminds me of Roughing It by Mark Twain about the wild west silver mines rush in Nevada.

Well, @#$@, Nunu is leaving.

Not a total surprise, but this hurts.

RE: WBB news - petersalas - 04-03-2026

Not surprising. She is graduating early and will have her degree this summer. Best of luck to her!

I thought she said she was going to play here another year. Well, if she did I guess she changed her mind.

I recall the same at a recent press conference. But money (and winning) talks... I could see UCLA or Minnesota as obviously landing spots for her.

Now I'm really wondering what Bob's good news was...
