I didn’t know the answer to the Ruth/Mantle question so I looked it up. What I found was an interesting tidbit (in addition to the Babe-Mickey feat). The pitcher in question once had two sacrifice bunts in the same inning. He is the only pitcher in major league history to do so.

I have a Mother’s Cookie Al Benton ‘53. No. 27. The cookies came in cellophane packages, cookies in front and a card on the back. Genius marketing. You needed to have your mom buy a lot of cookies. The cookies had so much preservative that they were still good in December. 62 cards in 1952, 63 in ‘53.

We are all incorrect.
Back in the day Sport Magazine was the Bible for kids and dads who who didn't quite grow up with TV. Sports Illustrated came along in the early 50's and tried to be a suave publication with regular columns about fishing, hunting, bridge and sailing along with stories about the major sports. Sport was famous for its portraits of baseball and football stars.
Who was on the cover of the inaugural issue of Sport in 1946?
Who was on the cover of the first under the counter issue of Sports Illustrated in 1954? What did the unique baseball section contain?

The oldest magazine is The Observer. 1829 I believe.
Under the counter means that SI couldn't be bought at a News rack. You needed a connection and my dad working for Fox/Movietone had one and I still have the issue. Featured in the middle were a photo set of '54 Topps cards including the rookie Hank Aaron.
The initial cover of Sport magazine had Joe D on the cover.
My favorite SI cover was YA Tittle in the '54 49ers red helmet. Have that one too.

So looking at a 2020 issue of farmers Almanac published since 1776. Continuous since 1818

Maybe the Almanac isn't a mag? We grew up with a bunch of now non-existence mags Bobbbb. Colliers, Sat Evening Post, Life, Look, Mechanics Illustrated, Street and Smith.....First Stanford Street and Smith cover was Frankie Albert. Then Ray Handley, Plunk, Elway. Bill McColl a cover of Sport. Have them all.

This player was drafted in consecutive years in two different expansion drafts. He also won 8 straight Gold Gloves

Phogge is correct, The Observer is the oldest continuously published magazine in the United States.
The oldest continously published English language magazine is The Spectator (UK).
The oldest continuously published monthly magazine is Scientific American (1845).
