Another close set, but Stanford wins this one 26-24.  2-1

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - Hieronymus - 12-12-2024

Toughs that one out 26-24. Stanford survives 6 service errors in the set.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - SkiBum80 - 12-12-2024

Announcer said Stanford "won ugly" in 3rd set.
I suppose that's better than losing ugly...

In the immortal words of Shake Tiller, “Nobody ever said it wasn’t gonna be semi-tough.”

What’s with all the net violations on Stanford?

First real swing in about 5 points - and Sami misses out. Set point now for UF.

All right now!!!!!

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - Hieronymus - 12-12-2024

Rubin closes it out 29-27. That was stressful.

Middles were great.
Rubin was great on defense, but not a great hitting day though she got better.
Kurt had a big day.
Serving struggled. I especially hate a back row player lobbing a serve to the UF librero.

Funniest point was in the third set with Kurt serving, and she served it way long; it was clearly going out and everyone knew it but the Florid player couldn’t get out of the way, so it smashed into her for an ace.

Louisville looked good against Purdue.  Gonna be a tough match on Saturday.

Hey, ESPN, I certainly didn't like how you ended this match, and how that compared to how you ended the other match.

When Stanford won, you focused on Stanford rushing onto the court for 5 seconds, and then followed one player on the losing team for the next 30 seconds (only showing her and her two teammates adjacent to her), and then you cut away to ads.  When you came back, there was a short (recorded) clip of Stanford putting its name up for the next match and an interview of a Stanford Player.

When Louisville won, you focused on Louisville rushing onto the court, through the greeting of the other team at the net.  You did spend a few seconds showing the other team and then Louisville putting their name up (live).  Instead of cutting away to an ad, you showed the Louisville fans and the Louisville coach and then eventually went to an interview of a Louisville player.

I really can't understand why you focused on one player, and chose one from the losing team.  Is she the boss's daughter?

"ESPN" is a 4-letter word here.  You ESPNed Stanford again.

Did anyone see any crowd shots of Stanford fans?  It is a work day, during work days, so I didn't come in until the middle of set 1.  I remember seeing some Purdue fans shown, and one of the coaches.    Well, yeah, the fact that the game is in the middle of the work week, 2000(?) miles away from Stanford, is going to put a damper on Stanford fans, but I have to figure there were some.  It was pretty sparse attendance.

You are obsessed with finding the most inconsequential things to be offended about.  The announcers were complimentary toward Stanford throughout the match.  They complimented Miner and Francis constantly.  Both announcers sounded like Miner's biggest fans.   ESPN can't micromanage every single minute of every match to divvy up equally between each team.

When Florida's second setter came into sub as a server the male announcer recognized immediately she was not in to set for Florida.  I was impressed with the knowledge from both announcers.

Agree re analysis. What surprised me most was how much Lizzie Andrew has improved over the season. She arrived with a big hit, but now she is so much smoother. Also impressed by Kurt's kills and her serves. I don't recall her serving early in the season, but she has a tomahock. Harvey also played well, both hitting and serving.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - Jskass - 12-13-2024

Was impressed with their fortitude too. As far as ESPN, at the end they kept complimenting Florida profusely that I had to remind myself who won. Appeared to be a local SEC/FL based (or biased) team -- the woman even said "we" in referring to Florida, and her male partner agreed.

loved Andrews back set to Harvey for a point
