When Stanford won, you focused on Stanford rushing onto the court for 5 seconds, and then followed one player on the losing team for the next 30 seconds (only showing her and her two teammates adjacent to her), and then you cut away to ads.  When you came back, there was a short (recorded) clip of Stanford putting its name up for the next match and an interview of a Stanford Player.

When Louisville won, you focused on Louisville rushing onto the court, through the greeting of the other team at the net.  You did spend a few seconds showing the other team and then Louisville putting their name up (live).  Instead of cutting away to an ad, you showed the Louisville fans and the Louisville coach and then eventually went to an interview of a Louisville player.

I really can't understand why you focused on one player, and chose one from the losing team.  Is she the boss's daughter?

"ESPN" is a 4-letter word here.  You ESPNed Stanford again.

Did anyone see any crowd shots of Stanford fans?  It is a work day, during work days, so I didn't come in until the middle of set 1.  I remember seeing some Purdue fans shown, and one of the coaches.    Well, yeah, the fact that the game is in the middle of the work week, 2000(?) miles away from Stanford, is going to put a damper on Stanford fans, but I have to figure there were some.  It was pretty sparse attendance.

Cmon, get over it. Despite the rare Plunkett/Elway/Luck/McCaffrey years and the occasional NCs in the non-revenue sports we just don’t have any semblance of a national media footprint, much less east of the Rockies — most sports fans in those time zones still think we’re from a small town in Connecticut.

That milk has been spilt for a long, long time.

We have a small fan base at home, and media follows the numbers. On the road? Forget it.

#2 seed Creighton knocks off #3 seed (and defending back-to-back national champion) Texas, 3-1.

I was just about to post this result.  Texas is not as good as they were the previous two years.  Their passing was a problem at times today.

While it's not a rule usually the NCAA POY comes from a team that makes it at least to the regional final. This doesn't take Madison Skinner out of the conversation but it opens the door wider for Wisconsin's Franklin if they win today. Also Nebraska and Pitt have candidates.

This is also great for our Director's Cup prospects, since WVB is one of the four required scoring sports.

Francis on fire at the start

Stanford hangs on to take the first set 25-22, but Louisville hans started the second set strong.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - BostonCard - 12-14-2024

25-14 second set to Louisville.  Flush that out and focus on winning two out of the last three.

BC

Our hitting in the second set was equal to Blutarsky’s GPA: 0 point 0.

we're still tipping too much; Louisville rarely

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - M T - 12-14-2024

If Stanford had gotten the #4 seed, do you think Louisville would have sent their mascot, cheerleaders, and band to the West Coast?
I'm getting tired of seeing a home crowd, home cheerleaders, home band.

Apparently, Stanford didn't have the budget to send any of them.  (I don't think even ESPN would be so blatant to show one team's and not the other.)

Where could that budget have gone?.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - BostonCard - 12-14-2024

Louisville takes the critical third set 28-26.

Need to win the last two.

BC

Starting to get away from us.  Lousiville is up 18-13, so we are going to need some kind of a run.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - BobK - 12-14-2024

MT it was finals week.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - BostonCard - 12-14-2024

Fat lady is warming up, I’m afraid.

BC

Not meant to be.  I think we all were expecting that we were good enough to get to the regional final but the final four would have been exceeding expectations.

Sad that Miner, Oglive, and Francis won’t have won a national title.

Thanks.  Another reason why the 4/5 seed decision was so against Stanford.

Wait. Finals ended yesterday. This was an evening game. So that excuse works for earlier in the week, but not for Saturday night.

Right?

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - BobK - 12-14-2024

No. Good night MT

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - TonyLima - 12-14-2024

Well, we can honestly say that it was fun to well, it was fun towatch the team come together and develop over the season. Maybe it’s time for Stanford to consider switching to the semester system.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - johnbar - 12-14-2024

That second set was brutal.  And the third was heartbreaking.

Interesting that Hambly went to a two-libero line-up for the fourth set.  First time they have tried that.
