I didn't peek. I recall looking up Brett Butler's stolen base stats which were mediocre, and reading that some of the so-called best base stealers, including Brock, Henderson, Cobb and Coleman were thrown out an awful lot. Brock led the league in caught stealing seven times, Henderson five times. Harold Reynolds was the worst, of base stealers who stole at least 250 bases. He led the league in caught stealing twice. Rod Carew was pretty bad, too.

I appreciate the skepticism, though. The last time someone actually challenged me on this stuff they lost $1,000 within ten minutes.
In any case, I will throw out an easy one since most of you guys were around to watch it. Who hit the first walk-off home run in a World Series game? (I did not look this up)

Dusty Rhodes was one of the first but not the first. Ironically the correct answer is elsewhere in your post.

After the ball hit Tony Kubek in the throat Hal Smith hit a three run homer to I believe tie the score late in the game and setting up Maz. Bob Prince was the longtime Pirate announcer and he went crazy over the bad hop and the rest of the game. A homer if there ever was one. Kinda of like Bob Murphy.
Bevens was one out away from the first Series no hitter but had walked eleven. Eddie Miksis and Al Gianfriddo were pinch runners subbing for two of the walked hitters. Cookie Lavagetto lined over Henrich's head for the win. Two days later Gianfriddo made the famous catch to rob Joe D at the Stadium. Who pitched the ball? Bobbbbbb, we saw him pitch for the Angels in Seals Stadium when we were kids.
By process of elimination Henrich got the walk off in the 40's. I think he retired before 1950. Rhodes hit his in 1954.
