Semester schools have finals at about the same time.

That 3rd set was heartbreaking and the deciding set. Stanford had set point and 2 back to back hitting error by Elia Rubin. Would have love to see Miner, Francis and Oglivie in final four

I’ve taught under both systems. Will check out some of my ancient syllabi.

They probably vary, but Cal's is next week.

For me this was an enjoyable and successful season.  After 2023 Stanford lost to graduation three fifth-year starters including one who may be in the 2028 Olympics.   They were replaced with one true freshman and two players who were basically rookie starters.   There was reason to expect the 2024 team would not be as strong as the 2023 team.

Well, this team went undefeated at home and came close to getting a #1 regional seed.  All the players got better throughout the season.  The improvement of Kurt and Harvey was astounding.  Congratulations to the players and the coaches.

Exactly. +1!

What another great season! Lots to be proud of. All season, it felt like we were a very good team, but not a great team so season ends about as expected. Would have loved for them to have had the chance to play in the Final 4. Great careers for Miner, Oglivie, and Francis. They will be missed.

Count me as applauding this group of young ladies that gave us a great season, and those that have given us several great seasons.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - Maple Leaf - 12-16-2024

Outstanding season for this team, especially with all the travel.

RE: Stanford Women’s Volleyball 2024 - Jskass - 12-16-2024

agree, but just wish they made the final four and bucked the trend of all the 1 seeds advancing, also selfishly since I will be there in Louisville with no one to cheer for! Not a big fan of either Pitt or Louisville, likely not Penn State given that rivalry, and don't get me started on how insular Nebraska can be. Good news is I will not be nervous for my team. Just proud of them for doing their best.

The team played with enthusiasm and smiles all season. They were fun to watch.

It was wonderful seeing Sami Francis finally playing healthy. She had a big year.

The team improved noticeably over the course of the season. Serve receive and blocking definitely better at the end of the season than the beginning.

Did any starters miss a match due to injury? Amazing in a sport with so much stress on joints and fingers that no one really got knocked out for an extended time.

Disappointing to lose in the regional final for the 3rd straight year. But not that surprising. Stanford was 0-4 vs. the Final Four teams except for the home win vs. Louisville (definitely the season highlight) and was 1-12 in sets in those 4 matches. Coach Hambly and the returning players should know the level of play Stanford will need to be competitive with the best in the country and reach Final Four level.

Didn't Kami Miner miss a match against one of the weaker ACC teams?  Taylor Yu setting instead?  Or did she just sub in?
I thought one of the starting hitters or blockers missed an early match, but I'm not seeing that in the box score. (Maybe I'm thinking of 2023.)

Julia Blyashov might have been a starter at the beginning of the season if she had been healthy.  Should be interesting next year with Kurt, Rubin and Blyashov all looking for playing time.

Yes, I remember Yu setting for one of the early matches.

Yu also played opposite in at least one match. I think an OH was out and Harvey moved to OH.

Rubin sat one out for wear and tear injuries.
