Remound and Gaffney could make it work - the others not as much.
We had four first downs in 6 rushing attempts on fourth down last year. We were 5 of 9 in Gaffney's year, and 7 in 10 when Remound was taking the handoffs from McCaffrey.

It was a broken play; Herbert and the running back miscommunicated, and Herbert improvised.

Really too bad we couldn't have played this well on offense in the first half...

I agree with stupac, that wasn't a broken play. Herbert was going to throw or run it wide, they just didnt execute the playfake well.

What are the rules regd. game clock when the receiver goes out of bounds?
After that big play by Oregon to the sideline, the clock started almost immediately.

I mean it's possible, of course. But faking a miscommunication to the running back didn't really buy the Ducks anything; the key was the run/pass option, and I suppose it's possible that it was always meant to be that. But the misplay allowed our defense to have a bunch of guys on that side of the field. The big problem is that they all shaded Herbert and nobody covered the receiver.

The passing game has been there all night. KJ and the receiving corps have been amazing. We were too stubborn on offense as usual.
