This is a great opportunity for Stanford Womens' Tennis to avenge their only loss this season. For that reason, I'm glad it's Georgia in the finals.

Updated UTR differentials based on yesterday's matches:
1. UGA’s Jokic by 0.11
2. Lord by 0.13
3. Lampl by 0.06
4. UGA’s Wolff by 0.23
5. UGA’s Christofi by 0.26
6. UGA’s Kowalski by 0.59 over Higuchi, 0.51 over Madurawe, and 0.83 over Choy
So, it’s hard to overstate how important the doubles point is today. If Lord and Lampl deliver, winning doubles means we just have to flip one match where we’re an underdog. I don’t relish the prospect of winning four singles matches against this Georgia team.

In theory, you’re not supposed to do that, but one never knows. A lot of players aren’t fully healthy at this time of year, of course, so sitting someone down to rest an ankle that’s been bothering them certainly happens, but different coaches have different moral compasses on just how injured is injured enough. A day’s rest can legitimately matter a lot when it comes to tweaky wrists or ankles, so who knows?
It could just be pre-loading the anticipated lineup. Yesterday, Higuchi’s name was on there until right before singles, I believe. But if Higuchi does play today, I’d be less inclined to think yesterday was a strategic lineup shuffle and more because Higuchi was dealing with something nagging, because Kowalski is a bad matchup for her, too.
FYI, College Tennis Today predicts a 4-3 Georgia win, with Stanford losing doubles and getting wins from Lord, Lampl, and Shin.

we only won 2 singles matches last time against them, so winning 4 is a big ask. I agree doubles is critical

Yesterday was the first time I’d ever seen Choy play. I thought she was strong and consistent, and definitely not a “moonballer” like you occasionally see playing at 4,5 or 6.

Doubles court 2 could very well determine the National Championship. It's up to Arb/Gordon to finish this off and take the doubles point.

1. Gordon trails 5-6 (down a break)
2. Lord leads 6-2, 3-0
3. Lampl leads 6-2, 4-2

5. Shin leads 6-2, 2-1 (up a break)
6. Higuchi leads 5-4 (up a break)
Georgia is going to come back, and they’ll take a first set or two and challenge in some second sets. They’re going to make a run. We just need to withstand it.
