I think most of us here think Lindy worked out very well. Except for chalk talks ?
Do we have comments from players re how Lindy worked out as a coach? I infer from the fact that Tara kept her that she must have been performing as a coach. Thus I can only assume that she did work out well as a coach.
But for chalk talks? For me, I don't think she ever really figured that one out. There were one or two where she warmed up a bit and seemed to be ready to interact, sort of interested in being there, but mostly, not good at all. To me, she came across as bored to be there, eager to get out as fast as she could, etc. Of course, that was a very minor part of her job, but to me, not an unimportant one. Stanford needs to keep its most rabid fans energized and eager -- and Lindy did not contribute to that.

Watching Lindy during huddles taking charge speaks of a excellent coach
Plus Tara undoubtedly gave Lindy a strong recommendation to Vegas.

Thank you IM in OC. I first saw Swish play first time in 2006. Watching Pohlen and the Samuelsons but also those who played 2009 or so who went to USC .

Lindy:
I’ll never forget her acrobatic move in a game in which she sparked an exciting and successful fast break while sprawled on the floor. I also remember those high-arching three pointers that she made. Tara used to say that she had great command of the game and would make a fine coach.
I always assumed that she must have done a very good job as a coach. This assumption was reinforced by the fact that Tara always spoke well of her and retained her. This assumption was further reinforced by her getting a head coach job at such a young age and filling her assistant coach positions so rapidly and affectively.
It was her flat affect and defensive, almost aloof, poster at the pre-game talks that soured me on her. She acted immature and dismissive. Given the necessity of a head coach having to interact with the public and the upper management of a university, I was concerned, when I read that she attained the head coaching position at UNLV, that she might not have the maturity to please her bosses.
I wish her well, although I won’t miss her.

2009 Cristina Marinacci went to USC--She married a UCLA player(dont remember which twin David or Travis Wear) and now coaches at Santa Margarita Catholic HS(Trinity League--same league as Mater Dei). This past season was her first.
2010 Cassie Harberts went to USC--She is in Nursing School and should graduate next month.

Adia Barnes at Arizona has enlarged and energized her fan base, which in turns helps her with recruiting, $, fan support during games, etc. An illustration of how important that part of a coach's job can be to her success. I hope Lindy embraces that part of the job at UNLV. From a distance she seems like such a positive, energetic person, maybe she just needs to overcome some inhibitions about interacting with the fan base.

vanessa nygaard would amazing if she wanted to move from coaching high school to college. she's had such great success at windward. more money (i would think) but more travel. and she'd no longer be the boss.

Yes, Linda was not the happy, humorous, charismatic persona that Tempe is, and so she was not my favorite at the chalk talks. But I did not come away with quite such a negative impression as some others. I remember her being a little sardonic, with a sense of humor that was understated and a half smile. And there were a couple of times when she gave much more substantive information about the game than the other coaches. I remember once or twice she explained how a particular player would be defended and I thought "Oh, that is quite substantive." It was almost because she was less experienced at glad-handing that sometimes she fell back on basketball-ology.
And perhaps I should point out that Tara herself is an introvert. There is a reason she uses her assistants for these kinds of activities, and it is more than the fact that she is busy. If you gave Lindy an extra 35 years, her demeanor might be a lot like Tara's.

However, I think you may have missed Lindy's last pregame talk. Someone ask the perennial taboo question about a player's physical condition. Instead of replying with a straightforward answer, "it is not our policy to divulge the player's medical informal," she got back on her heels in a defensive stance and replied, "I don’t have to answer your questions." There was noticeable aura of shock in the room. It was not a simple act of introversion.

It sounds worse than the answer Kate gave me the previous season in which she ridiculed my question. At least I sort of had it coming :P I haven't been able to prove it, but I suspect she felt bad about it afterwords which is why I was "randomly chosen" to be "season ticket holder of the game" soon thereafter.
