I'm watching the 3rd quarter of Arizona vs BYU and the inability of either team to make point blank shots right now is amazing.

Seems like in the tournament shooting becomes more important. I think it is because defenses tend to clog the paint and get really physical. And the refs swallow their whistles because its the tournament. So drives to the basket or post moves become a rugby scrum. I am glad that we are the team that has averaged 14 made 3's in its first two tournament games.

Arizona went on a run in the last 5 minutes and narrowly edged BYU.
Iowa State is leading A&M with seconds to go. Ashley Jones is a superb player.

10 seconds to go in Texas A & M / Iowa State, Iowa State up by 2 -- Missy just made a crucial call, for a tie ball with with possession going to A & M; now doing patented Missy review to see if a foul call on Iowa state should be an intentional. Missy decided no.

Some very close and questionable calls at the end of the game, and Iowa State and A&M go to overtime after Iowas State led the whole game. In the last seconds Iowa State got mugged twice going for the winning shot and no call.
Who was referee? Why Missy.
And A&M goes to the S16 on a buzzer beater, with an assist from Missy.

The final was 84-82 actually. I thought Iowa state should have played better defense on the last 5 seconds

UCLA is off to a pretty awful start against Texas. More turnovers than baskets and trails 8-13 after the first quarter.
Given how Arizona barely squeaked by today, and WSU and OSU are out, I'm beginning to wonder how good the Pac 12 really is. Oregon is exceeding expectations at least. I'd like UCLA to play like a 3 seed.

Missy can really be a game changer down the stretch. She always seems to find a way to get her team over the top in clutch situations.

3 teams in the sweet 16. I'd say that is pretty good.
UCLA with a 14 point first half. Terrible.

Texas defense looks awesome. Looks like they will probably clobber UCLA and move on to play Maryland. A great offense vs a great defense should be interesting.

These games are physically brutal. In the UCLA/Texas game, the cameras were just panning the scrapes and claw marks all over one of the Texas players. UCLA made 12/14 free throws in the third quarter, and probably should have had more.
They are down 10 going into the 4th quarter after a 27-16 third. Can they do in the 4th what they did in the 3rd? They will have to or go home. They dug a very deep hole for themselves by not showing up for the first half.

Two bad things happened to UCLA at start of 4th quarter. Mikele O. (spelling?) picked her 4th foul on a bad blocking call — should have been a charge. Then, Miller went out with what looks like a severe knee injury.
