Fun fact: Giants' starters have made it through at least the fifth inning in eleven consecutive games, all eleven in fact.  That's the second-longest streak in the 139-year history of the team, behind the 12 straight in 2002.  Starters in that 95-66 season were Livan Hernandez (12-16), Russ Ortiz (14-10), Kirk Rueter (14-8), Jason Schmidt (13-8) and Ryan Jensen (13-8).

Slater is the team's Dee Ford.

Dee Ford went 2-2 with a triple yesterday.

Dee Ford went 1-3 with a double yesterday.

Giants now 8-4 and ahead of the Padres (9-5).

He'll go down again. He would be better off in a league with the DH.

RE: [merged] Giants/Niners 2021 thread - Mick - 04-15-2021

Buster Posey #5 in MLB in caught stealing percentage at .429 and has most runners caught stealing at 3.

Jake McGee leads majors in saves with 6 and the Giants lead the majors with 7 saves.

Longoria and Belt have made errors.  No one else has.  Team has 99.5% fielding percentage in 12 games.

Giants have the THIRD most wins in the majors with 8 and second best ERA at 2.78 and sixth best WHIP at 1.05.  Giants have given up the third fewest home runs in MLB with nine.

That's the good news.  The bad news is that the Giants are:

27th in runs scored.
27th in batting average.
25th in RBIs.
23rd in OBP.
22nd in doubles.
21st in OPS.
12th in most strikeouts.
14th in triples.
11th in stolen bases.
8th in most walks.
5th in home runs.

5th in homers strikes me as pretty good. 8th in walks is also acceptable.  Stolen bases, strikeouts, and triples are not great but not the end of the world.  It’s the other offensive stats that blow.

1994 Orioles hold the record for fewest errors by a major league team with 57.

Giants lead the majors with just two errors after 12 games, which projects to 27 errors over the course of the season.  Statistically unlikely.  And they haven't had an errors in their last eight games.  I couldn't find the record for most games without an error by a team, but right now the Giants have eight straight error free games.

SF had 11 straight errorless games in 2010.

As for the major league record, I could not find a definitive source for that information.

Another game and no errors. Wisher however threw 18 pitches, 9/9. He’s been awful.

He’s been awful most of his career, 2020 being the exception.

Another shut out 2-0 Giants. Wisher with a scoreless inning

RE: [merged] Giants/Niners 2021 thread - Phogge - 04-19-2021

I’ll bet Wisler is wishing for more clean innings Bobbbbbbbb.

RE: [merged] Giants/Niners 2021 thread - Mick - 04-19-2021

After two straight shutouts, Giants have a 2.71 team ERA, second best in MLB.  Best belongs to Padres, third-best to Dodgers.  Some amazing pitching in the NL West.

Only the Mets (37 runs against) have allowed fewer runs to score than the Giants' 46 (and the Mets have played 5 fewer games).

I guess you missed the sarcasm.

No shut out today. Just 5 HRs in a 10-7 run. Posey with 2 HRs

RE: [merged] Giants/Niners 2021 thread - Phogge - 04-20-2021

Need another starter. Anybody know if Corry is starting in AAA or AA?

Giants now tied for 1st in MLB HRs with 25, jumped from 24th to 18th in OPS (now at .688).  Giants also 11th in SBs with eight steals, and only one caught stealing.  Giants now 5th in team ERA with 2.97.

Now 11-6, Giants have 2nd best record in NL (behind 14-4 Dodgers), and 3rd best overall record in MLB (behind Dodgers and 12-6 Boston).

Minor leagues open up in May.
