This is a rambling take and I'm not sure what the point is, other than my weekend was hell trying to support a great kid going through a rough patch. We could all stand to take a moment and think about what they're going through when times are challenging.
Well, let's hope that you take your own advice and support the team and the coaching staff in good times and in bad. I know from both ends of the spectrum, both as a player at the D1 level and beyond, not this program but another major one, and as a coach, it is hard.
Not sure what your background is to make all of your message board coaching on areas that need to get better, but as you mentioned, you view it from the lens of a fan.
I have dealt with dad's who just because they were able to start a travel ball team and make money while allowing their son to play the high profile positions, think they know baseball. When in reality, they throw a ball out and cannot coach game situations but feel accomplished playing 20 games a weekend, and now they are Sparky Anderson. Now I am not saying that is you, so don't take it the wrong way. But I have witnessed parents coming on boards like this and doing more damage than good when things are not going right for their son.
If your son is a starter, good for HIM, he has shown how hard work pays off at a major program, but nothing is guaranteed. You are told to cheer for your teammates, but never stop looking for an opportunity. You mentioned your son hit a rough patch against SC, let's hope he can shake it off and move forward. Gold fish memory for this game!
Let's hope you remember that it is hard on both ends, and that whatever moves that are made, it is for the good of the team! Hard to take your parent hat off and not vent at coaching staff when things are moving south, meaning PT taken away from your son. Especially on a forum like this! Bad enough that Esquer had to deal with Milano sabotaging him for 18 years,(I am sure you know the story). Also, there was speculation that he was on their message board ranting all the time. Not sure if it is true, but I can believe it!
Oh and for the record, Arizona is ranked 9th and is in 1st place in the Pac! Some one mentioned they were ranked 1.
It is always the goal to get the first game of a series, that is why Beck is the Friday starter! Especially against this U of A squad.

This is an interesting and weird response that completes misjudges what I wrote. I love the coaching staff and support them unconditionally. I have never offered coaching advice, to them personally, on this board, or in any other fashion. My role as a parent is to stay out of their business, support my kid and the team.
I also have never criticized any individual player. The kids on this team are awesome!
What I am guilty of is saying we can't win every game 12-8. By saying that, however, I am pointing fingers at a group that is giving everything they have. That's all any of us can ask.
Arizona comes to town tomorrow for a big series. Let's go Card!

Was else everyone like me: afraid to make a post during the game for fear of jinxing the team?
Phew! We actually executed a bunt in the 13th inning. I've seen us botch enough of them that I cringe every time a batter shows one. And hats off again to our relief pitching. The offense produced 12 hits, but left a bunch of runners on base. Our pitching has improved in the nick of time.

Having not attended a live sporting event in over a year, I jumped at the chance to go to tonight’s game. I did not expect, however, to make up for the whole twelve months in one evening... First pitch was 6:06 pm; last pitch was 11:17 pm.
Social distancing wasn’t a problem. After the tenth inning, my “one-person pod” was ALL of Section 8.
One observation: Zach Grech is REALLY good...

This will be a test, you have a team like U of A, punch them in the gut like they did on Friday. Yesterday gave them confidence going into the rubber match for today. The pitching staff better have kicked themselves after yesterday's performance!!!!

What a difference a day makes. A day after ASU scores 20, Alex Williams goes 6 innings, and gives up 0 runs on 3 hits, a walk and 6 strikeouts. After 6, Stanford is up 5-0.

Whoo hoo! Great performance in all phases of the game. A 2-20 drubbing? So what? The team just shrugged it off and took care of business the next day. Check off yet another series win.

The top of the Pac-12 baseball standings are as follows (conference games only):
Arizona, 16-8, games remaining vs UW and @ OSU
Oregon, 14-7, games remaining @ Utah, vs Stanford and @ Cal
Stanford, 12-6, games remaining @ Cal, @ Oregon and vs OSU
Oregon State, 13-8, games remaining @ ASU, vs Arizona and @ Stanford
UCLA, 14-10, games remaining vs Cal and @ ASU
ASU, 12-9, games remaining vs OSU, @ USC and vs UCLA
In terms of winning percentage, Arizona, Stanford and Oregon are tied at the moment. I have no idea what the next tiebreaker is, and it doesn't really matter with so many games remaining.
I think any of the above teams can win the conference, although I didn't take time to consider all the permutations. I *know* that Stanford is very much in the conference race.
But first we need to take care our final trap game vs SJSU (RPI #237) on Tuesday.

Very encouraged by Williams performance. Still need some pitchers to come along.
Stanford is now 10-0 on weekend series.
Stanford has gone 2-1 in each Pac-12 series so far.
Stanford ranked #12 D1baseball, #14 Baseball America, #17 RPI.
I think these are the only ones updated since the weekend.
With conference standings by win percentage that makes Stanford, Oregon, Arizona tied atop a very tight Pac 12 (11) standings.
Loss of the home series vs UW hurts. UW is 3-15 in conference with a 6 game losing streak.
Goals at this point would apparently be win the conference and secure a top-16 seed in the tournament to host a regional. I didn't see if NCAA is changing hosting rules because of the pandemic as they have in other sports.

Related to CTCard's comment about the pitchers...
If you look at the big picture, Stanford was outscored 26-15 by Arizona. But Saturday was an anomaly. On Friday and Sunday, Stanford gave up 6 runs in 22 innings, which is a great achievement against an offense like Arizona's.
Also, Alex Williams has given up zero runs in his last two outings versus USC (4 innings) and Arizona (6 innings). Prior to those two starts, he had never finished the fourth inning. This is a *major* development.
