Another call out to the people who have suggested we start our offense a bit earlier at the end of the quarter.  First quarter, Williams had to shoot a desperation three when Jump gave up the ball with only a couple seconds left; second quarter, Williams didn't even get a shot off.

Better to be up 31-24 than down 31-24.

The Arizona defense is indeed better than the last two times we played them, and our offense is labored.  But we got it back on track toward the end of the half to take a 31-24 lead into halftime.  Turnovers have hurt us.  Cut those down and we should win this thing.

Agree on Williams, but with Brink and Jones out with fouls (not that can't go back in with 2 fouls), I think Tara wanted to have a bit more offensive firepower in there.  Jones and Williams (and Brink) are the players who can make their own shots.

AZ is still only shooting 28%.  We've gotta beat that.  It's just the damn turnovers that are killing us.  Also, these ghost fouls they are calling.  That last one on Cam was BS.  McD just ran into Cam's knees and flopped.  Cam was just standing there.

Holding a team to 24 points in a half is excellent defense.  McDonald is 2/11.  No problems there.

But we have 10 turnovers to their 3.  If it were not for that, this would be approaching a blowout.  That is, of course, Arizona's strategy--close defense leading to offense.

So we need to wear them down in the second half so their defensive intensity begins to slacken off just a bit.  And we need to stop making risky interior passes.  I think we CAN cut down on turnovers--we have in many games this season taken care of the ball much better in the second half than in the first.

Of course the same goes for us--can we keep up the defensive intensity on McDonald as fouls mount up?  I imagine she will get better on offense as the game goes along.  We probably won't hold her to two baskets in the second half.  So our offense needs to get into higher gear.

Cam in the low post can score almost any time.  Let's get the ball to her, and let's not put her in a position to pick up fouls defending McDonald.

Totally agree. It's so valuable for a player to just be able to watch for a minute and catch her breath. Would be really beneficial to Ki to have a little break.

Concerns: McDonald will shoot better in second half. Late half Stanford lineups have several who lack confidence.

Hopes: If Tara can gove our team the "let's get aggressive" halftime speech she delivered in the Louisville game, our offense can improve.

Andy Landers pointed out that Williams has 5 of our 10 turnovers, mostly due to traps off ball screens, and that an adjustment is needed.  This is what got UConn too.
