Looks like the Big 12 will have almost four years to twist in the wind....unless there is a negotiated separation......

I am hearing that the Chairman of the UT Board of Regents intends for UT to play in the SEC In 2022 and at worst in 2023.

well it would certainly not help the Big 12 brand if OU and/or UT won football conference championships between now and July 2025.
I would imagine some settlement is negotiated that would place some value on the Big 12 losing TV money that they would have gotten if UT and OU stayed around until 2025

Anyone else find the SEC’s expansion with Texas and Oklahoma a little self-serving given the proposed rules for the proposed 12 team playoff? Conference champion from each of the power five are not guaranteed a spot.

With the expansion of the sec/nfl will there be enough Body Bag Games to go around? Will the sec/nfl put a Payout Cap in place for Body Bag Games? How often in the last 5 years did either Texas or Oklahoma play a team from the sec/nfl?

If you count bowl games/playoffs? Oklahoma did every year. Texas twice.
If you don't? Oklahoma never, Texas once.

Of course it's self serving. Many have already pointed out that Greg Sankey's endorsement of the 12-team playoff makes a lot more sense given that he was already in secret discussions with OU and UT. I'm sure other committee members would have thought and acted differently at the time if they had been aware of the SEC's expansion plan.

Per The Athletic, Pac12 commissioner, George Kliavkoff, has put the brakes on the 12 team playoff conversation. Because of the SEC secret discussion with UT and OK, everything is back on the table. He wants to be involved in future deliberations.

I’ve worked for everybody. By far the two worst organizations in sports TV are ESPN and IMG. The fault at ESPN is by everyone over producer level and in IMG’s production company TWI the fault was in everybody. Arrogance begets abuse.

It's official, the SEC has voted to invite Texas and Oklahoma; the schools could officially accept the offer as soon as tomorrow. I wonder if, in retrospect, the Pac-12 should have made the same offer, Longhorn network notwithstanding.
Also, I wonder what will happen to the Longhorn Network.

I don't know the details. It makes sense ESPN would not want Texas/Oklahoma in the PAC-12 because there would be the PAC-12 network to deal with.

The PAC-12 and B1G should merge to form a super conference called BIG-PAC. Then the ACC should break up and reallocate its teams to the BIG-PAC and SEC along north/south lines. This way we can fight the Civil War every year rather than every 4.
