In college, Saban and Dabo Swinny (and Urban Meyer, were he still coaching) for sure, though it is worth noting that Saban (and Meyer) struggled in the NFL, which is one thing Harbaugh has on them. Beyond them, though, I don’t think that I would say that Kelly (Brian or Chip) are necessarily better coaches. Kelly’s record at Notre Dame was 92-69; Harbaugh at Michigan is 61-24. There are a lot of coaches in the upper ecehelons of college football comparable to Harbaugh, but only a handful that you would clearly say were better.
I’m the pros, there are eight active coaches who have won a Super Bowl, so you might string together Belicheck, Mike Tomlin, Sean Payton, John Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, Mike McCarthy, Andy Reid, and Bruce Arians, but keep in mind that many of those coaches have long tenures.
So, if you are looking at active coaches in college and professional football, maybe you can find 10 who are better than Harbaugh, but I’d say that once you get past the top 5, Harbaugh’s name would not be out of place.

Exactly. I'd like to hear Goose's group of "great" coaches; and then his group of "great" college coaches.
I can't imagine more than 2 in the latter category.

The fact that the debate centers around trying to find 10 coaches better than Harbaugh means Harbaugh is either in or just outside the top 10. That is fantastic and clear justification for nearly anyone wanting to hire him.

That was the point I was trying to make. Thank you for articulating it better than I could. Harbaugh is a top coach, in the tier just behind the very top (Saban in college and Belicheck in the pros).
