Remember the Orange Bowl in the 2nd half when Fangio blitzed on ever ydown (or almost every down) except when VT was punting.

Spent six seasons as their strength and conditioning coach. Looks like Taylor knows what we need. . ..

Have they named a QB coach ?

Speaking of which - Daniels?  Patu?  Who is the leader  in in the clubhouse?

We'll see if it gets officially announced but tea leaves seem to point to Pritchard as QB coach. I don't know if other titles (offensive coordinator, associate head coach, assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator, etc.) would come with it.

I think it's too early to declare a leader in the clubhouse for QB1 until we know whether we're bringing in a transfer. Based on the likelihood we have multiple more transfers to come (2-3 my best guess), I'd wager there's about a 50 percent chance we bring a transfer QB in. Hard to game out the room until we know if there's another competitor and, if there is, who it is. If the QB room stays as it is now, I would struggle to make a prediction without more data points but, if forced to guess, would wager that Taylor would go with a two QB system like he did two of his three years at Sacramento State.

Man, I like this hire. Seventh round pick, seven seasons in the NFL, nearly a decade as a strength and conditioning coach, had two all -big 10 selections on the line with a finalist for the William V. Campbell trophy (Academic Hiesman). Rushing defense was third best mark in Wisconsin history, lowest total at UW since 1954, fewest yards allowed by an FBS team since 2011. Nation's best defense in his first season, just allowed 64.8 yards per game and 2.12 yards per carry in 2021, best in FBS since 2011. As UW's S&C coach, they had 11 first team All Americans.

I'm guessing this coach knows what he's doing. Weight room warrior and a pretty good recruiter.

And most importantly to me: a few years of experience of synergy with April coaching front seven together and before that synergy stitching strength and conditioning with defensive football. If we bring in Kolodziej and D'Onofrio, that's a significant chunk of Wisconsin's defensive alchemy. We'd still have big questions on April as the head honcho for a defense, playcalling, and secondary coaching, but IMHO April with Kolodziej and D'Onofrio is significantly more attractive than April alone.

Kolodziej (who had a tackle against Stanford in the 1999 Rose Bowl by the way) gives the Taylor staff seven coaches, including Taylor, and three of them (Taylor, Kolodziej, Byham) played in the NFL. That strikes me as a lot. That may or may not be a good thing but I think it's notable how many guys we'll have who can point to their time in the NFL. In addition to three who played in the NFL, April and Adams coached in the NFL and Agnew's dad and brother played in the NFL. Osborne is the one college guy. Lots of ability to point to NFL experience if the staff wants to.

We've got both D'Onofrio and Kolodiej.

This same account said Lance was gone. He isn't.

Kolodziej is confirmed. Nothing confirmed about D'Onofrio yet (though I don't doubt it).

EDIT: I saw a couple other sources "confirming" D'Onofrio, but it's not a silver bullet like being in the Stanford directory.

The account said Lance isn't returning as DC, which is accurate, not that he is gone (though that still may be the case).

What's funny is he's still not in the Stanford directory!

The eight new assistants are listed at the bottom of the staff directory for football after all of the current/previous staff. Taylor himself is listed at the top.

(6 of the 2022 assistants remain in the directory under Taylor’s name at the top).
