the main effect of getting the #1 seed would seem to be that we play texas and iowa plays duke if the games go as predicted. also that we don't play colorado unless they beat iowa.

I don't hate our draw. Any #2 seed would be tough, and we have to get there first. I don't like playing Gonzaga (if we do end up playing them) because it is boring, been there, done that most every year. But Texas is fine. They aren't that great this season. And who we might play if we get to the F4? Well, just get there first, then it is all gravy to me.

They key for me is that we are not a 2 in South Carolina's regional. We have as good a chance as any other team of making it to the final four. Texas is in the way, but Texas has not been as good this year as last year. Gonzaga will have to beat a higher seeded team to get to us--I rather hope they do since we will be better prepared for them than for Ol Miss. I presume Iowa will meet us in the elite 8, but that is reasonable given how our regular season and tournament ended. We were going to get the best 2 seed of the bunch, and we did.

So, let's win a couple at Maples and take it from there. I'll be there.

I see Virginia Tech vs U Conn as a really tough potential 1/2 elite eight game -- and I think U Conn will prevail if these two meet up. In Seattle, so assuming the Card gets there, we'll be there to see it. Already have our plane tickets and hotel reservations, hope that's not angering the woofing gods. For us, Iowa is a potential tough challenge. We can win it, but not to be assumed. I suspect that Iowa vs Stanford for the last #1 was nearly a coin flip.

We are on SC side of the bracket so we would play them in Final 4 game. (Indiana, Virginia Tech/ Uconn) on other half.

Haven't seen them, but for us, likely to be 6 pm and 8:30 -- but don't know which Stanford would be in. Anyone with better info?

Of course the selection show interviewer's question for the committee was "What did Stanford do to get a #1 seed over UConn?" Iowa not mentioned.

I do not blame Creme picking the Hawkeyes to take the regional over us. We have not looked good lately, whether it's our offense or our inability to hang onto leads. Furthermore, Iowa's offense will be difficult to stop and while their defense is vulnerable, our offensive attack has been looking predictable and anemic recently and may not take full advantage.

And if hunger plays a factor, I am sure Iowa is more than motivated to make a Final Four (for the first time in 30 years) and being "snubbed" for a #1 seed, compared to our speculation that perhaps the team is a little complacent given that we are only two years removed from a national title.

Of course Lobo would say such thing. I get Iowa's claim to #1 seed and they should have been. But UConn as #1 seed is a joke. I'm rooting hard against UConn. The sooner they are out the better.

I think the bracket is pretty fair and well laid out.

No one has it easy.

There is part of me of course that would wish to be in Virginia Tech's regional; but I like the idea of being South Carolina's spoiler, if we get to the Final Four.

Virginia Tech will have to potentially go through USC and Tennessee en route to the Elite Eight.

I think South Carolina has no walk in the park with UCLA and Maryland, either.

Going to be exciting. Rooting for the Pac-12 success.

Agreed, although I find it hard to root against UCONN this year given the amount of injuries they’ve faced.

Let us remember that 1) the last time we won a natty, we defeated South Carolina in the semifinals, and 2) we traditionally do better in the 1st game of a weekend than the 2nd. When we won the natty, you could say we over performed in the 1st game against South Carolina and under performed against a team we had defeated decisively two times in the second game.

So if the object is to win a natty, it is better that it be this way than the reverse.

If the object is just to get as far as we can, then of course it would have been better to have an easier foe in the semis.

But all of that is highly theoretical. Defeating Texas and Iowa will be hard. I almost think we would have an easier time against South Carolina than against Iowa. Playing Iowa after a tough game against Texas, as the second game in a weekend, for the first time in years, will undermine the scouting report defense. So the elite 8 game presents itself as a very, very hard game.

And of course we have three we need to win first. And given how things went in the Pac 12 tournament, we can't count on that. Both the games against Old Miss/Gonzaga and Texas will be highly challenging.

That said, I will take 538's odds. After this season, having a 50/50 chance of making to the final four sounds pretty good.

Last year 1st game was at 4:30 followed by Stanford around 7:00.
