So happy for Taryn. She has been great in terms of getting on base, but the power numbers and batting average had lagged her numbers from last year with Indiana. However, she has been fantastic recently, and has delivered so much in terms of getting on base and setting up the batters behind her in the lineup. She has been a really good teammate, so it is great to see her hard work rewarded with this moment.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - BobK - 03-24-2024

Another HR by Kern in today’s 5-3 win
Stanford now 25-5 and 6-0

looks like we may pass last years HR totals well before the season ends.  A nice step up.

And with only one HR by Kern so far!

Glad my reverse jinx worked.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - BobK - 03-29-2024

Another win this 9-0. Another Kern HR
Stanford has won 7 league games in a row most since 2005

I think Jessica could well create a college softball dynasty.  Took a few years to get all the required pieces, but i can't see good high school player who gets an offer and gets in, not coming to Stanford.  The vibe the team gives off is hard to miss.
Another important change from last year is the long ball.  We hit 26 homeruns last season.  We now have 25 and barely into league play.  If that continues we will win games we would have lost last year.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - d4cohn - 03-30-2024

In a winner take series contest, NiJaree Canady hits her first career homerun and chases the starting UA pitcher from the circle. Long way to go, but Cardinal with an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - d4cohn - 03-30-2024

Caelan Koch and Emily Jones go deep in the 5th inning to extend the Cardinal lead to 6-0. With NiJaree dominant per usual in the circle (11 K's), the series is all but over. Cardinal 6 outs away from three consecutive series wins over the Wildcats.

Stanford easily wins 7-0 to take the series in Tucson. Cardinal with a one game lead on UCLA with Arizona State coming to the Farm next week.

I saw it as an affirmation of Tara and her staff, as well as Stanford generally. That and her wonderful smile

Re Cam, so many things. That 10 block game was Oregon last year, giving her the rare triple double of  points, rebounds, and blocks. Adding to the intensity of that, Steph Curry was at the game.  But my greatest memory of Cam comes from a post game press conference, again last year, in which she said something to the effect that she was at Stanford to get an education as well as to play basketball. That's not the quote, but the gist of her response to a question. She has genuinely been a STUDENT/ athlete, and it's people like that on the Stanford team that makes me a fan.

I guess some could argue that Stanford's WBB  could be described as softball, and like Tara often says, the women on the team need to play less like the "nice girls from Stanford".

Hehe. I'll move that post to the right thread but leave the funny reply here.

Another win this over Santa Clara 3-1. Complete game win for Krause

I think SCU (20-14) played their best game of the season to keep it that close. A few errors by SCU's 2B contributed to two unearned runs. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Stanford is their only ranked opponent to date. It's probably difficult for Stanford to get up for lower-level opponents, and it's easy for SCU to get amped up for Stanford.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - BobK - 04-03-2024

Santa Clara has a good team. So much better than The Lisa Mize teams

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - d4cohn - 04-06-2024

Stanford routs ASU 14-0 to clinch the series win over Arizona State. Cardinal are 10-1 in Pac-12 play, with a 1 game lead in the loss column on UCLA in the Pac-12 standings.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - BobK - 04-07-2024

Kern is now hitting 300 after two doubles and a single yesterday

Stanford has hit another gear with Kern raising her game like this. And it has helped buttress the entire lineup, giving looks to Gall, Jones etc.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - d4cohn - 04-07-2024

Stanford sweeps Arizona State 1-0 off another outstanding performance by Regan Krause and NiJaree Canady. Stanford holds ASU scoreless in all three games of the series, outscoring the Sun Devils 19-0.

A nice article from last year, but a tribute to the Staff and Players.  If already posted, please delete.

RE: Stanford Softball 2024 - d4cohn - 04-13-2024

Stanford softball routs Oregon State again, this time winning 13-3 in 6 innings, following up Friday's 8-0 run rule decision. Stanford now 34-6 on the season, and a just sensational 13-1 in Pac-12 play (winning record has been clinched in Pac play for second consecutive year). Cardinal with now a 3 game lead on UCLA in the Pac.
