Jim Rice, 1978 Red Sox, 15 3B, 46 HRs.
1955, it happened in both leagues. Willie Mays with 13 triples and 51 HRs and Mickey Mantle with 11 triples and 37 HRs.
1928, Jim Bottomley, St. Louis Cards, 20 triples and 31 HRs.
1904, Harry Lumley, Brooklyn Superbas, 18 triples, 9 HRs. His rookie year, also led the league in strikeouts, age 23. Was out of baseball by age 30.
1902, Tommy Leach, Pirates, 22 triples, 6 HRs.
Harry Stovey did it twice:
1891 Boston Braves, 20 triples, 16 HRs
1880, Worcester Ruby Legs (national league), 14 triples, 6 HRs.
I had missed Leach, good catch.

Yes to Apple, but which one, how many times did it air, and who directed it. The only commercial that really, really mesmerized me when it aired.

The spot was called 1984, crazy that it is now 40 years old. It was directed by none other than Ridley Scott and I believe it was only ever aired once, in the Super Bowl.

No on the temps. Right on the year of the first halftime performance, not Angie, though. Yes on Rice, yes on Niners with the most points 55. The Niners never played the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Coldest Super Bowl inside the stadium? Super Bowl XI, New Orleans 39°F. Second coldest? Super Bowl IX, also New Orleans 46°F. Both games held at Tulane. . . .
Minneapolis just a few years ago was the coldest outside, at 2°F. . . .

Carol Channing of Lowell HS in SF...also attended Aptos Jr. High (in SF, not Aptos, CA). She married her Aptos JrHi/Lowell HS sweetheart, Harry Kulijian, reuniting 70 years after they graduated -- her fourth and final marriage.
The same player was on deck when both Hank Aaron and Sadaharu Oh hit their 715th home run. Who was that player?
Also...Henry Aaron toured Japan with the Mets after the 1974 season. He was 40 years old, Sadaharu Oh was 34 years old. They faced off in a home run derby. Who won?
