I'm a fan of Miner, and think she's as good a setter as any in the country. But, would you really take her as the first player in a draft? I would probably build my team around a pin hitter who can make something out of an out-of-system play (a la Kathryn Plummer).

Plummer is probably the best college player of all time. So yes I would take her.
The better question is would you take Kipp or Miner.
I generally agree with you that the variance of top level setters is just lower so I would take Kipp.

All time? That's quite the claim.
Note, the OP question was whether Miner would be your first draft pick. I wasn't comparing her specifically to Plummer, but rather to a player like Plummer; an outside hitter who can rescue the offense from being out of system by being able to put down a lot of crap. If I were building a team with the first pick of the draft, that's what I would spend it on.

Milwaukee was 21-12 last year. They have seven front row players 6'0" or taller on the roster.
Live stats: https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=540990
The University of Wisconsin system looks like it has 25 campuses (more than I expected.) 13 of them are "comprehensive" and the other 12 are two-year branch campuses, so like community colleges. Milwaukee appears to be the only campus other than the flagship in Madison to have R1 status from the Carnegie Classifications people.
I grew up in Milwaukee and went to University of Wisconsin-Madison. At that time, the Madison campus was just "University of Wisconsin" and the Milwaukee branch was "UWM". They later added "Madison" to the flagship campus name. At some point in the 1970s they merged the more prestigious "University of Wisconsin" system with the "Wisconsin State University" system, in the name of efficiency/cost-saving.

Miner not dressed to play. Stanford up 15-14 in the first set. Kurt can bring the heat.

don't see Blyashov

Stanford up 18-15. Milwaukee has lost 16 straight matches against ranked teams according to announcer.
Harvey ends set 1 with two straight aces. Harvey also got a kill by bumping the ball over the net that hit the floor; don't see that often.

Blyashov in the boot, according to VT.
Kurt gets the start.

I don’t mind the aggressive serving but not a fan of Oglivie’s new jump serve. Most hits the bottom of the net. When she gets it over, it’s an easy serve to pass. I’d like her to go back to her jump float serve.
I’d also like to see a DS sub in for Kurt when she’s in the back row. She is struggling passing and digging. She’s doing okay in the front so far.

New record attendance blows away the old record but in a small high-school like gym.

Beaven in for Kurt in the back row. Another service error for Oglivie

Taylor Yu serves out by 20 feet for fifth service error. At some point do you focus on getting the ball in the court or do you keep swinging away?
However Stanford is up 13-9 so everything ok.
