RE: FB -- NC State Game Thread - crackpot - 11-02-2024

Sorry, if you let your player stay on the field after he kicks the opponent in the head (and, perhaps, took a swing at a ref?), you need to go.

I've been hopeful, I've been patient. But this game is showing that this was a terrible, terrible hire.

RE: FB -- NC State Game Thread - martyup - 11-02-2024

There are 5 minutes remaining for the refs to finally call holding on the Wolfpack.  Don't hold your breath.

RE: FB -- NC State Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 11-02-2024

For 80 yards, just throw the slant to Ayomanor and let him sprint to the flag.  Easy.

I disagree.  Pull him and protect him from injury.  This game is lost.

The refs finally call holding . . . on Stanford. NCST has been holding all day. Arms around tackles of our D linemen. Pathetic officiating crew.

Who do you think Stanford could have hired that would have been better?

Ok, now we can turn the game around !
Get Ayomanor involved...

Hey, that actually happened!  Do it again!

Great job, guys! Now can you manifest the dismissal of Muir and TT?

Statistically, anyone. Literally anyone.

The question is, how could any other hire have been worse?

We are a bad 2-7. But for an end of game FG, we could have been 1-8.

Correct. Per Sagarin, before today, we would be the 4th best team in the Missouri Valley Conference and the 2nd or 3rd best in the Big Sky Conference.  No joke.

People need to be reminded just how bad we are. It's human nature to root for these young men who are doing their best and have some talent, but this team may be worse than any Stanford Football team in history.  We were Sagarin #104 in 2006. We were Sagarin #104 through last week's games this season.

a thoroughly unenjoyable game.  and as mentioned before, it's been Amateur Hour in the announcers' booth.

I didn't think they were THAT bad.
Of course, perhaps I was comparing them to the football team's play.

2-7 type teams usually get the worst announcers available.
And FWIW 2-7 type teams get the lowest rated referees in the conference too.

David Shaw.

Not a joke. I mean it…

RE: FB -- NC State Game Thread - SkiBum80 - 11-02-2024

As miserable a low point as this is,
Coach still has a needed Bye week,
And then 3 games left, with very little travel,
To show that this team reached their abysmal nadir, but have climbed out, and are possibly better than last years, and are finally moving in the right direction.

Or not.

Not sure who the color commentator was, but he had the line of the day: "sometimes football comes down to effort."  Because, you know, the rest of the time it comes down to the astrological charts.

It really doesn't matter if Muir could have hired someone better.   The deal is that TT is just not working out.

When a popular coach leaves or gets fired the roster normally gets decimated thanks to the portal.
Therefore firing a popular coach going through a tough patch would be a tough call.
I suspect TT is not popular enough for Muir to worry about portal attrition.

If Muir expects to keep his job he needs to try again.   It is quite likely a new coach would also have an awful 2025, but at least a new coach would have a fighting chance recruiting current HS players.

Here for the rest of 2024 Stanford will be big underdogs to the remaining opponents, and the final scores of the next three games are likely to be brutal.

Frankly, if that card that TT is always looking at were an astrological chart, we would probably be doing better…
