Um, apparently Tess Heal has entered the transfer portal, according to the same reported who said Kate told her no one would.

Heal's departure means 14 plus Green. So, in theory we could take someone from the portal, right?

She was going to lose time with Lepolo and Swain arriving, and Chloe showing she can play good enuf O and better D. Heal will go to a team that runs lot of screens, which we dont seem to do alot.

I’d prefer Olivia Miles. She’s got the credentials academically, and she’d be an amazing addition.

Anyone watch the game? I watched part of it. Saw our recruits do some good things. Swain looks like the point guard we have been coveting. Quick, athletic and can drain the three. (She was also the East's leading scorer with 13)
The obvious star of the game? Sienna Betts. She is quite a player. Add her to all the people UCLA has coming back and they will be something else next year.
P. S. The high scorer in the game was Brynn McGaughy, a Washingtonian who went to the same high school as the Hulls did. I know we showed some interest, but she ended up a Husky (Washington not Yukon).

yes, betts is very very good. so is jazzy davidson (usc).
but i was pleased with lara somfai and alex eschmeyer as well. both see the court well and play good defense. both had blocks. somfai hit a 3. both are mobile and quick up the court. i think we knew how good somfai is, but eschmeyer is very solid as well. she is strong in the post, has moves on offense and defense. she's been compared to ashten prechtel, but to my eyes, she's much more powerful.
as predicted by another board member, a line-up of eschmeyer, somfai, agara, swain, and clardy is imo easily a top 20 team, maybe top 10.

Yeah, 2025-2026 belongs to UCLA. 2026-2027? We just might be there.

Thanks for the link -- it is a good read and explains a lot about players making their decisions now with more factors than before.
It seems like others are offering big money to Miles -- rumors that TCU has already offered 700k to her for next year. So, not sure we would be a possible choice for her, but we were a finalist for her when making her college decision. She is finishing up her masters at ND this year, and I feel like I read she has or wants to start her own sports agency firm. So, perhaps she isn't only about money and would value what other value Stanford could bring to the table. Of course with grad admissions, she likely would have had to apply already. But I can dream of having a super point guard that can run an offense, pass dimes, and score when needed (and be somebody for Swain to learn from!). :)
Interestingly, 3 others from Notre Dame entered the portal in addition to Miles. So, it feels like something is going on there. They had a downturn 2/3 of the way through the season and went from being a favorite to to an afterthought pretty quickly. I wonder if it's related. They will be a different program next year, as with their seniors leaving (and if these 4 transfers do leave) they only have 6 people on the current roster and one recruit for next year. So, they will likely get a number of players in the portal and have a very different look next year!

imo seems a bit rigid of kate to say, basically, we don't expect transfers in or out. i'd rather hear something like, "we welcome interest from excellent players anywhere. unfortunately, transfers in are unlikely in april as prospective grad transfers would have had to plan months ahead in order to gain acceptance to a stanford grad program."
also, seems there's quite a lack of communication if kate can announce "no transfers" and tess, a very short time later (perhaps the same day), can announce for the portal. implies to me that tess didn't tell kate before she announced, which concerns me.

Ok, I hope we were not misled, but if the article said they are not losing anyone or getting anyone from the portal, but we have lost Tess and now saw this:
