I'm checking this thread for names of both exits and incoming transfers - in re the latter, besides their initial recruiting offer lists, I just hadn't been able to find too much info online on either of the admits mentioned here (# of starts, strengths, weaknesses, etc) based on their play at their former schools to be able to offer anything.

and I would still love to see 1-2 of the "outbounds" decide to stay, but maybe I am missing something there.

Can we read anything into Stanford's portal-acceptance policies after taking transfers from Nevada and Fresno State? Both fine schools, full stop, but in '23 for example Stanford had transfers from Princeton, Harvard and Penn... I'd love to see these new guys excel in the classroom just to derail the idea that only kids from snobby schools can succeed at Stanford.... Some people are born gifted, God bless 'em, but the great majority of kids at prestigious schools are more nurture than nature, as best I can tell anyway...

I would assume that Ruffins is an undergrad transfer given he's completed two years at Nevada. Neal would appear to be either a grad transfer or a postbaccalaureate as he's completed four years at Fresno State

That would be a convenient excuse for poor recruiting in prior offseasons by Coach TT and his staff, if true. But it's really hard to tell a difference without having each player's undergraduate academic record.
You left out last year's inbound transfers from the University of Northern Iowa (Jahsiah Galvan - presumably next year's starter at ILB) and Washington (Jay Green) - both early in their undergraduate careers. In 2023, we took Lamson as a redshirt sophomore (Syracuse) and Bernadel as a junior (Florida International). In fairness, Bernadel was reported to have a 4.0 GPA.
Let's not forget that until he waved the white flag recently, Coach TT's explicitly stated strategy was to recruit almost entirely from high school, develop players better than other programs, and retain them. If it's true that Admissions wasn't as supportive of inbound transfers as they are now (which is not yet clear), it's still on Coach TT for selling an "incomplete" vision for the previous two offseasons and failing to provoke any change. By "incomplete", I mean incompatible with winning and even having a full roster in the current transfer-intensive environment.
I'm with you - I'll bet if these kids have decent college grades from any institution, they're just as likely to do well at Stanford as the average high school football recruit to Stanford.

Neal had a 3.4 as of last fall as a "Pre-Business" student (I'd guess that's not actually a major, but what do I know).

A good friend of mine was a rising star at Andersen. He was a Fresno State undergrad and a recruited baseball player. Marquess recruited him as well, but FSU was much cheaper than Stanford, which his family couldn't really afford. He's been extremely successful since. You can find talent (academic and athletic) all over the place if you look hard enough.

After reading the excellent Stanford Athletics profile of Ayomanor, I'm not surprised in the slightest. He battled a really serious high school injury and has also had injuries at Stanford (thankfuly, relatively minor ones). He knows how fragile a career in football can be, and I believe he made a very rational decision. I'll enjoy rooting for him in the NFL.

Quote:Prongos was a bit of a revelation this year, going from walk-on to arguably one of UCLA's top offensive linemen in the same season. He played at both tackle spots, as well as guard, and showed good mobility and athleticism. He was hurt at the end of the year, but the injury is not expected to impact him heading into next season. He'll have two years left.
If UCLA cannot get Prongos back out of the Portal, this is a brobdingnagian blow. UCLA's offensive line was one of the worst in the country this past season, but Prongos was a bright spot. Without him, the Bruins will definitely need to get at least one impact starter on the offensive line (which was already the case), but likely will need two or three if they want to improve on this season's line play.

(b) Being tutored & mentored to become an NFL ready QB by Andrew Luck

(3) I dont know if this ex-NotreDame-Alabama QB Ty Buchner (who is now on the depth chart at NotreDame as a Utility Player/ WR) has any college eligibility left, but if he had 1 more year, it might be good to see if he might be interested in transferring to play QB at StanU. He was pretty good as a Dual-Threat QB when he was at NotreDame 3-4 years ago.
