Xolani Hodel and Kylie Deberg were seeded #21 in the FIVB Veracruz Challenge.
Yesterday they won their two pool matches (which were at 11:00am and 9:00pm local time, if I'm reading this correctly.) Winning their pool, they went directly to the round of 16, where they defeated a Canadian team (16th seed) this evening 2-1, in another 9pm match.
Tomorrow they play a quarterfinal at 2pm local (3pm PDT). If they win that, they play a semi at 7pm (8pm PDT). Medal matches are on Sunday.
ETA: They play the #1 seed, Americans Loreen & Quiggle in the quarterfinal.
These FIVB events certainly give you a lot of time to rest.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

Hodel & Deberg lost their QF and finished tied for 5th.
Ruby Cochrane (2026) is in Doha, Qatar for the FIVB U18 World Championship. She is playing with one of her usual partners, Sophie Hancock, representing Canada. They are practicing with a team from Japan. Competition starts Tuesday.
Another 2026, Samantha Krystkowiak, won the "CBVA Fall Championship Bid + AVP Bid Event 18U" in San Diego, with Sarah Uebelhoer. Last week she won the CBVA Women Open at Dockweiler Beach with Olga Nikolaeva, yet another 2026 recruit. (It was a small field of only 11 teams.)
Today's CBVA Open in Manhattan Beach had several Stanford recruits, too. JoJo Wilson & Thalia Lindahl (both 2027) finished 3rd. Simrin Adams (2027) also finished 3rd (with Sandie Souza). Estelle Reese (2026) finished in second (with Olivia Herron).
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

Cochrane & Hancock (seeded 9th) won their first two Pool H matches easily (21-11, 21-6 and 21-11, 21-11). Those were the #24 and #25 teams from Gambia and Congo.
They have one more pool match, vs. the #8 seed from Qatar (i.e., locals), tomorrow.
ETA: Oh my, the Qataris have gotten stomped by the teams from Gambia and Congo: 21-12,21-10 and 21-2,21-3 !

Cochrane/Hancock beat the Qataris 21-3, 21-4.
They not only swept their pool, no opponent scored more than 11 points in any set. (Total of 126 to 46 points.)
They get a first round bye and will play in the round of 16 tomorrow (9:10am PDT, 7:10pm local time).
They will play a team from Hungary (9:10am PDT). Livestream on youtube:

RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

The Canadians beat the Hungarians 21-15, 21-13. I watched most of the match on youtube.
Both sets started close, with Cochane/Hancock up 11-10 at the technical TO. In the first set they then went on a 5-0 run, and the Hungarians never got close again. Similar in the second; the Canadians put together a string of points and finished it out.
They play a quarterfinal scheduled at 9:40pm Doha time, 11:40 am PDT today. (The previous match started 8 or 10 minutes late.)
There is a Fall season pairs collegiate tournament starting today, the "SCE West Coast Championship" in Manhattan Beach.
Stanford has four pairs competing: Belardi/Bell, Fisher/Stowell, Odigie/Sorra, and I.Clarke/Hoffman.

Cochrane/Hancock will take on a Dutch team, court 2:
https://www.youtube.com/beachvolleyballworld
at 11:40am PDT.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 10-10-2025
Cochrane/Hancock squeaked by in the first set, 22-20. I don't think either team ever led by more than 2.
But then the Dutch outplayed them in the second 21-17. I missed most of the third, but the Dutch won 15-10.
So far in Manhattan Beach, Belardi/Bell and I.Clarke/Hoffman are 2-0. "Team Sequoia", Fisher/Stowell, are 1-1; and "Team Maple", Odigie/Sorra are 0-2.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 10-10-2025
Team Maple got skunked (0-3). But the other Stanford pairs won their pools (Belardi/Bell & I.Clarke/Hoffman 3-0; Fisher/Stowell 2-1).
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 10-11-2025
A round of "modified pool play" today (basically double-elimination), seeding the final rounds.
Belardi/Bell (the tournament number 1 seed), Fisher/Stowell, and I.Clarke/Hoffman went 2-0. Odigie/Sorra went 0-2 (No idea what is the issue with this pair. Is Odigie just that weak a partner? Sorra playing hurt? ???)
Team Redwood (Belardi/Bell) got a first-round bye, won their second round match and are into tomorrow's QFs vs. a USC team.
The other two teams went 1-1 and are in some sort of pool play tomorrow. (Odigie/Sorra went to the consolation bracket.)
This is all in the "Gold" division. There is a second "Silver" division, with several more Stanford pairs:
Gubbins/Rockwell; Carlin/D.Gusarova; Andersson/Rivera Vargas; P.Clarke/Vincent; Kubiak/Sampson. These teams went undefeated Friday, except the last which was 0-2. They had a better Saturday, going 2-1; four teams move on to the "Silver Power" pools tomorrow. (Roughly half the teams get relegated to the "Bronze pools".)
Not sure what happened to Gubbins/Rockwell - they went 2-0 Friday, but don't show up in Saturday's listings, or tomorrow's pools. Must have had to drop out.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 10-12-2025
Belardi/Bell beat UCLA 1 (Cooper/Fernandez) 2-0 in the
quarterfinal. round of 16.
They beat USC (Pater/Stephens) 2-1 in the quarterfinal.
They take on CalPoly 1 (Connor/Inskeep) in the semi soon.
Belardi/Bell won the first set easily over Connor/Inskeep 21-11, but lost the second (21-16) and third (15-8).
So finish tied for third.
ETA: The CalPoly pair, Connor/Inskeep are the overall winners.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

More international beach action. The FIVB U21 Championships got underway in Puebla, Mexico, with qualification rounds today.
Stanford's Avery Jackson (with Sally Perez) won two matches to make the main draw and will play two Pool C matches tomorrow with a third on Friday. Stanford's Ruby Sorra and Ofure Odigie are representing Canada, and are in Pool E. (They didn't have a much success last week in Manhattan Beach; hope they fare better this week.)
The FIVB is also holding a "Challenger" event in Nuvali, Philippines this week. Stanford alum Sunny Villapando and Florimel Rodriguez are one of two Filipino teams to get a wildcard into the main draw. That starts tomorrow.
Originally Xolani Hodel and Kylie Deberg were signed up for this event, too, but dropped out. There's speculation the partnership may be over, since they've also dropped out of another upcoming FIVB event.

Freshman photos are up, but some of the other players' pictures have disappeared:

Jackson/Perez beat a good Spanish team (who play for TCU) 2-1, and then easily handled a team from Morocco (21-5, 21-8). They play the third pool match (vs. Poland) Friday afternoon. They'll play up to three elimination matches Saturday. (Though if they win their pool, they get a first round bye.) Semis and finals are on Sunday.
The Canadians, Odigie & Sorra, won both of their matches 2-0, beating Guatemala and Germany. They play the #5 seed from France next.
(Edited to correct days of matches.)
-----------------
Odigie/Sorra won again and are into the round of 16, playing tomorrow at 1:00pm local (12 Noon PDT).
Jackson/Perez also got past a tough Polish team, 2-1, and will play at 2:00pm tomorrow (1pm PDT).
If both teams keep winning they will meet in the finals on Sunday.

Based on JoJo Wilson's IG, it looks like she and at least a couple other beach recruits are on campus this weekend.

Jackson/Perez vs. #1 Mexico will be on Center Court (court 1):

ETA: I missed both matches, though they are still available on youtube (camera angle for court 3 is not good).
Odigie/Sorra lost their first set but won the second and third: 14-21, 21-19, 15-12. They play the Americans Henson/Wood at 6pm local time in a QF. I expect that will be a tough match.
Jackson/Perez had an easier time, winning 21-17, 21-10. They'll play a good team from Latvia at 7pm local (6pm PDT).
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 10-18-2025
Odigie/Sorra lose to the Americans, 21-16, 21-15.
Jackson/Perez dropped the first set but won the match vs. Latvia: 18-21, 23-21, 15-12.
They take on a team from Brazil in the semis tomorrow at 9:00am local (8:00am PDT).
