Yup. I’d much rather have the Giants road forward than the Dodgers. Still playing the wildcard winner is rarely a blessing. You often get a team on a hot-streak and many years, a team with a better season record than the worst division winner. (Dodgers 106 wins; Braves 88 wins). Most year THAT’S the team I want to play.

Also, it just feels like the 3-4 days off from a game is much-needed for the Giants, who have been stiff-arming the 106 win Dodgers nonstop for the last 1+ month! It had to be exhausting. Now, it may be that the Giants come back flat and unable to regain that edge/intensity that has kept them playing at peak levels - but even so, I'd take the 107 and the NL West title. Quite an accomplishment in and of itself.

Number 1 seed should be able to pick who it plays……

It felt like the playoff games started two months ago and it has been a white knuckle, torture-filled race where it took until the final day of the season to beat out the f-ing, mercenary Dodgers. When the Giants have made the playoffs before, I would wait to buy any swag because they might win the pennant or the series and division swag isn't that important. But this year, after this epic battle, I am going to celebrate this division win like a World Series win. I will wear this division win swag with pride even if we win the World Series.
Cheers,

I like that the #10 payroll team ($163,890,308) finished in front of the #1 payroll team (267,200,832).

Or at least re-seeding during the playoff rounds.

Same, although I
really like beating the Cardinals when Buck is announcing. Also liked the looks on the faces of Matheny (0:45), the dugout (1:06), various Cardinals players (1:20, 1:34) when Travis Ishikawa hit the series-clinching walkoff home run in 2012...

Also, in the AL, the 26th highest payroll ($70 million) ended ahead of the 2nd highest payroll ($203 million) and 5th highest payroll ($184 million).

Since baseball employs multi-game playoff series’, I don’t think match-ups matter as much as in football where it is one game do or die. If a team deserves to advance, they should be able to beat anyone in a series of games.
The one post season adjustment I would like to see is changing the Division Series from five games to seven games to create uniformity throughout the playoffs.

Thanks for posting that, Mick. What a moment for the Giants. What a moment for Travis Ishikawa!
P.S. Doesn't it seem like Giants-Dodgers are destined for a playoff showdown in NLDS? I'm not sure I want that, but the way the Giants have played this year, why not?

Stanton is not Charlie Hustle but man what a hitter. I have hated the Yanks since the first televised Series to the West Coast in 1952. Gerrit Cole was locked in to pipe the ball. Location, location, location...

Cardinals@Dodgers, 5:10 pacific time, TBS. Streaming on
www.mlb.tv.
Fun facts:
1) Dodgers don't have Max Muncy or Kershaw. Cardinals have a laundry list of players recently returned from injury.
2) Cardinals recently won 17 straight.
3) Scherzer pitching. Dodgers have won all 11 of his starts, but he gave up 5 runs in each of his last two starts.
4) Cardinals have 40 year old Adam Wainwright pitching. He won 17 games this season.
5) Dodgers won season series 4-3.
6) Cardinals and Dodgers have faced each other six times in the postseason. Cardinals have won four of the last five.
I don't have a preference, really.

Dodgers announced that Kershaw is out of any playoff. He will become a free agent. Perhaps a Giant?
Muncy very doubtful which will make Gausman very happy.

Kershaw is a Dodger. Either he re-signs with LA or he retires…..

It is a dilemma for Giants fans. Face Arenado and Goldschmidt on the same team in the playoffs or the 106 win Dodgers. I’ll take my chances with Arenado and Goldschmidt. I hope St. Louis wins.

Molina has been pretty damn good against the Giants, too.
I'd like the Giants' chances against either team better with Belt.
With Mick - don't have a preference on opponent, as both will be tough to beat.
It just seems like it's time for a Dodgers-Giants post-season showdown.

I guess I do have a preference. Giants are 10-9 against the Dodgers and 2-4 against the Cardinals this year.
So...I'd like to see the Dodgers beat the Cardinals.
