Stanford 2, Georgia 0

1. Gordon trails 5-7, 2-2
2. Lord leads 6-2, 5-4 (up a break)
4. Arbuthnott trails 5-7, 2-2
5. Shin leads 6-2, 5-3
6. Higuchi leads 7-6, 0-0

Lord had match points on her serve, but got broken and Gonzalez held. Luckily, she had a break to spare, and she’ll serve for it again.

Lord wins to make it 3-0 with shin serving for the title!

There it is!  Shin wins and we beat Georgia 4-0 for the national title!

All right now! Great performance. Just fantastic. That doubles point really set us up to bring it home.

That's championship # 122!

Pretty amazing final, to win 4-0, with the three singles matches being won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.  Talk about bringing it to the final.

Woo hoo hoo! Congrats to our women's team! They made it look downright easy in the final against the consensus number one team of the season... Until now! Go Cardinal!!!

That’s number 122 overall and #20 for women’s tennis.

Miss clutch (Lord) is now an unbelievable 20-1 in the NCAA tournament in her career.

First back to back titles since three in a row in 2004-06.

This is only the 6th time a school has won at least 5 NCAA team titles in one season:

1981-82, UCLA
1991-92, Stanford
1994-95, Stanford
1996-97, Stanford*
1997-98, Stanford
2018-19, Stanford

*6 championships

We are not done yet!  Although not the favorites, we have. A shot in men’s and women’s golf and baseball.

I would like to thank Tennis Channel for broadcasting the match and Sling TV for giving me a 7 day free trial so I could watch our team take sweet revenge on Georgia by winning the National Championship in dominating fashion 4-0.

A suggestion to next year's NCAA women's tennis tournament committee -- When you're doing the seedings, take into account human polls, computer rankings, strength of schedule, W/L record, conference titles, conference tournaments, head-to-head results, and UTRs . . . then give the top seed to Stanford. Because Stanford has been making a mockery of your seedings for years. It's time to recognize it and admit that Stanford is #1.
