Bobbbbbb, I ran out of gas in the 15th. Nobody left in my bullpen. Were you awake? What worries me is if they continue to play well and trade Bum will the air go out of the clubhouse. And why is nobody comparing Dickerson’s month to McCovey’s first month in 1959? Damned close.

Agreed. They're 2-2 against the Mets with two games remaining against them, but to me, the key series is the Cubs. I suspect Farhan may be looking at that series as the make-or-break. The Giants have beat up on bad to mediocre teams. The Giants are 5-8 against the Dodgers, but they haven't played the Cubs, who are leading their division. They have a home series against the Cubs on M, T and W of next week. I think that tells Farhan if the Giants can do something in the playoffs.

Actually the LFer dropped the ball. But the bigger reason for the win was Dickerson ran hard and scored. He forced a throw home that was terrible.

I loved the hustle. Yes 2 outs. But not all players run hard in that situation.

I went last night. First game this year. Probably the latest I’ve ever waited to catch a game. It just gets harder to go as I get older. And the TV broadcasts are so damn good. Still had a great time. Beede looked good. Not overpowering. But his command has improved considerably. deGrom is electric. Several Giants were simply overmatched.

Dickerson can run a bit. Wotus rolled the dice. A good throw gets him But....

They scored one run vs Syndergaard and deGrom combined and won both. Amazing. I knew it was going to be very tough to do much offensively facing them and coming off a Colorado hang over. I’d be very interested to see how teams hit the day after they finish a series at Coors. The splits of the Rockies players are astounding. Blackmon and Dahl at one point were hitting about 200 points higher at home. Arenado no where near as pronounced. He hits everywhere. Tremendous player.

11 days to the deadline. Zaidi will make some moves. But I think it’s now close to 50/50 on Bum. Maybe 70/30 on trading Smith. Both were certainties a month ago.

I am concerned of the possibility that he keeps both, and the air goes out of the balloon come August 1. They are playing these days, in many ways, like these are playoff games.

Still, it’s nice to be playing games that have some significance again. They are fun to watch right now. And that hasn’t been the case in 2 years.

They need Longoria back. Pablo beginning to be a little exposed. He’s not an everyday player at this point.

You have to be happy for guys like Yaz, Dickerson, Vogt and Solano. None are young. Yaz and Dickerson are 28 (soon 29) and 29 respectively. All have toiled in minors for years. Dickerson missed a couple years with injuries. Slater a bit younger. 26. But he too has fought to get here. Vogt 34. Can’t throw much these days cause of shoulder injuries. Heck 15 years ago they would’ve run on him all day long. The fact that they don’t just tells you where baseball is these days. But the guy can hit and apparently he’s an absolute joy in the clubhouse. Lifelong Giant fan is just giddy to be here. He will manage one day. Heck maybe for the Giants next year!

Solano should be starting right now at second. Panik has been awful offensively. And his defense has dropped off a bit. Hard to figure out.

Farhad has done an astounding job. Yaz Solano Dickerson Vogt off the scrap heap. And Pillar. I also like the way he juggles his 18 man pitching staff. Sam Selmen and Fernando Abad will make their way to SF soon.

Finally, glad to see Bochy having some fun.

I replayed the Mets' shallow left field miscue a few times. It reminded me of a play that is all too familiar to Little League coaches; the infielder runs out after the ball, clearly intent on catching it. The outfielder, who could clearly catch the ball AND should actually take the play since he's coming in, gets surprised when the infielder turns at the last possible moment to look at the outfielder -- who has eased up, thinking the infielder will take it. The ball skitters off the outfielder's glove, and the expression on the outfielder's face confirmed it. The other interesting part is that the catcher clearly didn't expect Dickerson to sprint from first to home, he was on the wrong side of home plate to catch the incoming throw.

And the Giants win 14 of 16 to get to 49-49.

I saw an article in a Bay Area paper in the last day or two that implied that Farhan was considering taking Bumgarner off the table. Personally, I think the Giants should keep the roster as is, unless they can greater immediate value WITHOUT trading anyone under the age of 23. As Lex pointed out, all the new arrivals are in their late 20s. Even Panik is 28. Outside of Moronta, Slater, Beede and Rodriguez, I don't think the Giants have anyone between 24 and 28 (I don't count Duggar, Suarez, or Coonrod who is 100% hype IMHO). Gott, Jerez are iffy.

The Giants need young position players in a big way, but I think they should get them through the draft. Longoria, Cueto, Crawford, Belt and and Posey -- half of your starting lineup -- are signed for three additional seasons. I imagine that the Giants never thought that their position players would get this old, this fast. I'd get rid of Panik, put Solano at 2B, get rid of Belt to Texas and start -- any one of 1/2 dozen guys.

Until three weeks ago, I was hoping the Giants would shed old payroll as fast as they possibly could in exchange for young talent. But Crawford, Posey, and Longoria are essentially untradeable. And frankly, they Giants have been the third best team in baseball since 6/1/19. The fans are starting to come back. Today's game will be rocking.

Can't wait to see what Farhan will decide to do.

Getting smoked today. Lucky to have won first two. This is an interesting tidbit from the OC Register:

“Since 2013 – the start of the Dodgers’ current run of domination in the National League West – the Dodgers have a winning record at Coors Field (34-29). But in the series that followed those visits to Denver, they have struggled, going 24-35 – including a six-game losing streak that followed a series sweep of the Rockies in April (the Dodgers’ longest slump this season and the only time they have lost consecutive series).

A team that has played at a .587 winning-percentage rate since the start of 2013 has played at a .407 rate following a visit to Coors Field.

“I had no idea about that stat,” Dodgers outfielder/first baseman Joc Pederson said when read the numbers. “Not good.

“You definitely notice the pitches. There are a lot more back-up sliders and cutters here where it’s not like that at other places. But I didn’t know it was that bad. … Maybe everyone’s just a little tired. Numbers don’t lie so it’s something.”

The Dodgers aren’t alone. The four NL West teams that each make three visits to Colorado every season have a .466 winning percentage in the series following their series there since 2013. Only the San Francisco Giants (33-28) have managed a winning record in the days immediately after leaving Denver.”

Doesn't surprise me that the Giants are fatigued. They played four games in three days at altitude -- 13 hours worth of baseball, not including warmups, warmdowns, stretching, weights, etc.; and they're a team that's accustomed to playing at sea level.

If you've done anything at altitude, you know it causes fatigue. And yesterday was their ninth game in a row. They might falter again today. Hope not.

I believe. I definitely believe in their bullpen. Giants pitchers struck out 14 Mets in 12 innings. Gott got his sixth win, he's 6-0. Zach Green was called up from AAA, he went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double. Menez was called up from AAA, he started, went five innings, gave up two earned runs. Stanford's Slater batted second, went 0 for 5 with two strikeouts.

The Giants won three of four against the Mets, eight of nine overall. They're 22-10 in one-run games, 13-4 in games decided in their final at bat and 9-2 in extra innings. Not too shabby. They're 50-50, .500 ball. 28-16 since June 1. Tied for second in NL west. 2.5 games out of last wild card spot, along with Arizona. St. Louis & Philadelphia are 0.5 games out of that spot.

Cubs are in town for three. They lead the NL West at 54-45.

Cubs next. They are playing well. Tough series.

I watched most of the 4-game series against the Mets. I think the whole series Giants players being payed $10M+ hit maybe 4 balls hard. Crawford hit 2, Posey hit one today into triples alley that went for a ground rule double (that ground rule should be ground rule triple if it bounces over 421 sign), and I think Belt hit one. That was it.

The Mets have better talent but the Giants still managed to win 3/4, barely. Slater has come way back down to Earth. Yaz and Dick might be decent players, but they aren’t who you build your team around. Zach Green might be interesting. His double today impressed me as he really turned on 94 with violence. Perhaps he could be a right hand platoon option with Panda at 3B.

But people are kidding themselves thinking this Giants team is worth preserving. They just aren’t very talented.

But they sure are fun to watch. I have to admit if I had seen today's starting lineup at the beginning of the season I would have assumed they had thrown in the towel, or that it was a AAA line-up with a couple rehab assignments. But they are making it work and that bullpen is lights out.

I don't know if Farhan is a genius or just throwing random darts at a high enough volume that some of it has hit the target, but I am pretty happy with the results. I do think there is a different kind of genius around and it's Bochy -- look at that lineup again. Not that he hadn't already earned a spot in the Hall of Fame...
