The outbreak traces back to one female student athlete, sources said.
It's the B.1.1.7 strain.

AVCA preseason beach volleyball poll is out. Stanford ranked #19
https://www.avca.org/polls/beach/1-27-2021.html
There aren't that many DI beach teams and even fewer fully funded scholarship teams. Stanford should be doing better. Last year's record was 6-7. IMO it's time for a new head coach.

Recruiting is very very good. It takes time. We have some highly rated Frosh. 2021 recruiting is very good. And a very good 2022 recruit
Stay the course

Current Beach Frosh

Three played on USA National teams.

Stanford Beach has 3 -- 2021 recruits on National Teams and a 2022 commit on a national team.
Each are on Youth National teams as are/were the Frosh

It seems to me that Stanford's initial approach of considering beach VB (I thought they had been calling it "sand VB") as a spring version of WVB has hurt it, but it looks like now they are looking at beach as its own sport, which is good. Considering that Stanford gave the world the best women's beach volleyball, probably ever, we should be a beach powerhouse. I am looking forward to seeing that.

Thanks for the link BobK. They look impressive, at least on paper.
I hope they allow "outdoor" spectators when the season starts.
Why did the Nourse twins de-commit? That was a killer to the program.

As I understand the Norse twins decommitted when their brother wasn’t accepted

Stanford goes from #3 to #7 without playing a match this past weekend.

early polls in any sport
should be more fluid as results start to come in. So far we have no wins, let alone any quality wins.
RE: Stanford Women's Volleyball - Softball Fan - 02-01-2021
IMO Stanford should start outside the top 10. Three freshman starters probable. Two projected starters out indefinitely with injuries. Stanford has to first prove something on the court to be in the top 10.

Stanford WVB is scheduled to play Cal tomorrow at 2:00 pm with PAC-12 network coverage. Is this game still on?
I heard on a news report the Cal campus is in the middle of a 14 day complete Covid lockdown. Students may only leave their dorm room for meals at the cafeteria and to go to the bathroom. No other exceptions. Campus police are patrolling the dorm floors to make sure no students are outside their room.
Edit: If you hear anything on Zoom one way or the other, please post. Thanks.
It will be a killer to the players' morale to have two more matches cancelled.

Yeah I checked Cal WVB twitter. As of 25 minutes ago it is on.
FWIW I wish our team would display the type of emotion shown in the above video clip.
Stanford has won the last 18 matches going back to 2011. This could be the chance for the Bears to break the streak.
