Thanks for the updates John. I expect Stanford to stay about the same place in the poll. Shouldn't drop I don't think.

I tend to agree. No worse than 11th, certainly.
Note, I added to my previous post before I saw yours.

Similarly, SMC beat Pepperdine yesterday 3-2, but lost to them today 1-4.
Outside the top four or five schools, there is a lot of parity.

Latest AVCA poll out. Stanford moves from #10 to #11. Making the NCAA tournament may be out of reach at this point.

I think it would take upsetting LMU and GCU this weekend, and then finishing no worse than second in the Pac-12 tournament (upsetting either USC or UCLA). Which seems unlikely at this point.
Interestingly, CollegeBeachVB moved Stanford up from 11th to 10th this week. For some reason, they haven't updated their website, but did post their poll on instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/collegebeachvb/
They also have SMC at #20, which seems reasonable.

Stanford cruised to an easy win over Santa Clara this afternoon, not losing a set.
The only interesting thing is the Hodel & Villapando moved up to the #1 team, with Ekstrom & Reilly playing at #2. Given recent performance, this seems reasonable.
Originally the schedule showed Stanford playing Cal again on this Saturday (4/24), but that's been dropped. So they can just concentrate on LMU. (And then GCU Sunday.)
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-22-2021
According to Cal's twitter feed issued today they are playing the other three teams this weekend. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with Covid so it's rather strange the Cal match was cancelled. I wonder if Stanford told them we can't afford to get beat by you guys again.

Another change in the line up today. Kriz moves up to the 2s, playing with Reilly, Ekstrom at the 3s with Harvey.
The 2s fall 0-2, but the 4s (Smith & Sharp) get a three-set win.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-24-2021
The 1s team wins so I believe it is 2-2.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-24-2021
The 5s lose 0-2, but the 1s come back after losing the first set and win 2-1.
OTOH, the 3s won their first set, but got creamed 9-21 in the second, and are trailing 3-5 in the third.
Did see one play where Maya Harvey hit into the block, but the block bounced off her head for a kill.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-24-2021
Ekstrom/Harvey lose 14-16 in the third set. Stanford loses 2-3.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-24-2021
Yes, so close.
Hope GCU is not rained out tomorrow.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-25-2021
The reliable 4s get the first point for Stanford.
Ekstrom & Harvey playing at the 2s today come back from a first set loss to win the second.
And the 2s take it 15-9. Stanford up 2-0 on the eighth-ranked GCU.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-25-2021
Ekstrom ends her match by serving three straight aces; tough jump serves.
It looks cold, cloudy, and somewhat windy. Less than perfect weather for beach volleyball today at the farm.
Dailey/McKinney looking good in their first set. Maybe #8 Grand Canyon doesn't like cold (relatively speaking) weather.

The 5s seal the win. The 1s and 3s could make it a sweep.
A sweep it is. Only one set lost.
Senior Night before the SJSU match, nominally 5pm, probably more like 5:30.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-25-2021
It's interesting that Ekstrom & Harvey lost at the 3s yesterday, but were moved up to the 2s today. I assume there was some strategy in the match ups.
In pro beach volleyball, Alix Klineman and April Ross are in the semis at the second FIVB Cancun event, making up for a disappointing 9th last week.
Kerri Walsh Jennings and Brooke Sweat are still USA's second team, though Sweat apparently suffered a knee injury while playing yesterday. Not sure how serious it is, she is reported to be walking around today. They finished tied for 9th, after a 17th last week.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-25-2021
Walsh and Sweat are in a tough spot. They have to keep playing no matter what to maintain a slim lead over some younger USA teams. If one of them gets injured so they can't play, that would be it for the Olympics.
When does the USA women's indoor training training camp start? I would enjoy watching the Olympics more if Plummer makes the team.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball - Softball Fan - 04-25-2021
Things looking pretty good in first three matches against San Jose State.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

Should be a sweep with SJSU.
Good question about USA training camp.
Will Andrew Fuller ever do anything for fans? I mean like a Chalk Talk or meet'n'greet? Even before the pandemic, there wasn't anything. He could do a zoom event now. Have I been spoiled by Hambly (and Dunning)?

FYI the Pac 12 championships are on tv starting the 29th
Congrats to the team. Most wins in Stanford history
