In less positive news, in her writeup as winner of CA POY, it was revealed Juju Watkins has a 3.67 GPA, which seems a little low for a Stanford admission?
It says Betts is at 3.58. So, seems like JuJu is on par with her.

Wow. I guess being an admit under the baleful glare of Robin Mamlet the Horrible has given me a distorted view of what kind of GPA warrants admission to Stanford! I am pretty sure the year I was admitted the average GPA was something like 3.93?
ETA: Nope, I'm not crazy, the average GPA of admits was
3.96 last year. Clearly athletic credentials -- ahem -- offset for other weaknesses in an application...

Has there been score and grade inflation or is admission just a lot more competitive now than it was last millenium?

I might be mistaken, but when my son was playing high school sports they looked at unweighted GPA for determination of NCS all-academic. So perhaps these reported numbers don't take into account honors and AP classes?

Back in the good old days -- decades ago, when I was applying to college -- a 3.5 would have been plenty to get into Stanford. The valedictorian of my HS class had about a 3.9, and four members of that class were admitted to Stanford. And then in college, a B average was good enough to get one Freshman honors. Grade inflation in both high school and college over the years has been extreme, and not just recently. In the 1990s when I was teaching in an MBA program at a local college (not Stanford), a student asked me what it would take to get an A. I answered, master the material and show me you really understand it. The student felt that was extreme and complained to the administration. I was called on the carpet for my answer.

yes, i saw that, too, and wondered...investigating... google's first link on a morgan cheli search quotes, "proud to announce my commitment to u seattle," but looking closer at the actual tweet, i believe cheli is re-tweeting in congratulations her mitty senior teammate noemie bariteau's commitment to seattle. it's a bit early for cheli to commit.
