Guys, it was a crushing, season-ending defeat for Texas. Let's not expect them to also say "all the right things" for our pleasure. And I don't visit opposing team fan boards, but I'd bet good $$ that Longhorn Nation is up in arms over the number of whistles during the game (and it was a very high number . . . and could have been higher).
And if you're looking for criticism of sportsmanship, how about Stanford players NOT getting into post-game handshake line? That did disappoint me. You can celebrate at half-court (or celebrate again) after you go through the line. No need to blow off the handshake line (and that's what looked like happened from the TV feed).

In the pre-game presser, Haley let slip that our coaches try to steal signs and read lips of the opposing coaching staff. My first reaction was that this would be considered bad sportsmanship, but I quickly discovered that this is normal and accepted in basketball.

Interesting to compare this game and the early-season loss:
| Team | FG | 2-pt | 3-pt | FT | Reb (ORB-DRB) | PF | A | TO | BLK | STL | PTS |
| Stanford (11/14) | 17-48 (35.4%) | 13-21 (61.9%) | 4-27 (14.8%) | 18-23 (78.3) | 37 (10-27) | 20 | 7 | 20 | 10 | 4 | 56 |
| Stanford (3/27) | 19-52 (37.3%) | 16-34 (47.1%) | 3-17 (17.6%) | 18-22 (81.8%) | 45 (12-33) | 22 | 14 | 20 | 11 | 4 | 59 |
| Texas (11/14) | 23-61 (37.7%) | 19-54 (35.2%) | 4-7 (57.1%) | 11-17 (64.7%) | 28 (11-17) | 18 | 3 | 10 | 0 | 7 | 61 |
| Texas (3/27) | 17-52 (32.7%) | 12-39 (30.8%) | 5-13 (38.5%) | 11-20 (55.0%) | 28 (6-22) | 24 | 8 | 10 | 1 | 4 | 50 |
On our end:
- A few more shots overall
- Slight improvement in overall shooting percentage.
- Slight improvement in 3pt FG%
- Big drop in 2pt FG%, but also a significantly higher percentage of 2pt shots vs. 3pt attempts (43.8% 2pt FG attempts in Nov. vs. 65.4% in March). I actually disagree with Vic Schaeffer on this—he said it was a win for them to limit our 3pt attempts vs. last time; I think it's a positive that this time when our outside shots weren't falling, we took it inside and largely found success.
- More rebounds overall, especially on the defensive end.
- A couple more fouls; 1 player fouled out in each game: Lexie in Nov., Fran yesterday.
- Double (!) the assists
- TOs were even, 1 more block, and one more steal.
- Scored 3 more points this time around—those extra 2-point shots really paid off!
On their end:
- Significantly fewer shot attempts (9 fewer overall)
- Decent drop in overall FG percentage (5%)
- Significant drop in 3pt FG%. We limited their touches inside and forced them to jack up almost 2x the 3pt shots compared to last time (25% of their total shots were 3pt attempts this time vs. 11.5% last time)
- About the same from the FT line. They weren't great the first time around and they were worse this time.
- Significantly fewer O boards for them this time: 6 vs. 11. Same overall rebounds for them, but we got a lot more this time.
- Significantly more fouls on them; they had 3 of their best players in foul trouble and one of their stars fouled out. Rori Harmon was the only player in foul trouble for them last time out.
- TOs were even, 1 more block, 3 fewer steals.
- Obviously, 11 fewer points for them this time around. Our team really stepped up their game on defense.

Vic Schaefer does like to talk on and on. It even annoys reporters. In the pregame press conference Tara made an extremely short opening statement, and a reporter actually replied with a quip about Vic's lengthy opening statements.

Does anyone have a replay of the game? I thought I saw the players go over to shake hands after the celebration, but my DVR recording of the game didn't catch the last couple minutes to be able to double check.
Several people on different boards are pointing to different teams for allegedly not doing the handshake line as evidence of poor sportsmanship. When I've gone to games in person it might be after a few minutes for celebration, but the handshakes usually happen.
Maybe the TV broadcast didn't show the handshakes? I was disappointed ESPN didn't stick around longer for the postgame celebration, but cut quickly to Sports Center. CBS showed a good portion of the postgame celebration for the men's games.

Vic sounds like he went to the same class that John MacKay of the usc-condoms attended titled "Stanford Appreciation".

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. Many years ago a WVB coach was accused of having an assistant coach try to steal the opponent coach's serving signs. That head coach was basically drummed out of coaching. The irony for me was I didn't think there was enough time to do anything with that information even if you could steal it because there's usually a few seconds between the sign and the serve.

When you win your region in the NCAA's and continue onto the Final Four you celebrate and you don't shake the hands of the opposing team. It's been that way forever. Any trophy celebration victory you dog pile your team when the last whistle blows.
The other teams knows it. Thats why the Stanford coaching staff went to shake the hands of the Texas players and a show of respect while the players celebrated.

Is there any indication that our team chose to dance the electric slide (line dance) after the game because we were playing Texas? It seems that line dancing is heavily associated with Texas.

Though turnovers were the same for both games, does anyone have a feel for which game had more live ball turnovers (steal, intercepted pass) compared to dead ball turnovers (5 sec calls, charge, ball thrown out of bounds). The former is more damaging because it often leads to a fast break basket for the other team. With the latter, you lose possession but at least you have a chance to set your defense.

Well Texas had 7 steals in Nov. vs. 4 last night, so I'd guess the former game had more live ball turnovers. But I'm not sure if that tells the whole story.

Texas points off turnovers in November - 12
Texas points off turnovers in March - 15
But here is a big difference:
Texas fast break points in November - 12
Texas fast break points in March - 0

Apparently it was the electric slide is the easiest dance the team could think of for Tara, who is apparently not a dancer. Line dancing is a southeast thing; in Texas, we have the two-step.
