Pretty interesting article again. Scouts and WNBA execs wondering how/where Jones fits in at the pro level. Her stock has dropped quite a bit and she could fall below 7 in the draft. Other players have eclipsed her with better play this season (Diamond Miller, Siegrist, Jordan Horston). Poor perimeter shooting and lack of a 3 point shot present major concerns with making a roster at the next level.

That sounds about right. Her Achilles heal is the lack of outside shooting.

Unfortunately, I don't think Haley lasts in today's WNBA. There are just so few spots with such few teams.
Without an outside shot nor a strong handle, and considering she's going up against much bigger, stronger and quicker players than she did in college, she has an uphill battle ahead of her.
Would love to see her pivot into sports broadcasting or even perhaps coaching. She has a great personality, high basketball IQ and a Stanford degree to boot :)

The lack of a three point shot is going to really, really hurt Jones' draft spot and career as a pro. As these articles point out, no three ball means she really has no clear cut role or position in the WNBA. Except for a very few, perimeter players in the WNBA can shoot. She isn't going to play the 4, thus she needs to shoot. Maybe she will develop her long range shooting when she is a pro and doesn't have school or practice time limitations. It's really a shame. She is a smart woman, so she must know all this. I hope she goes to a team that will give her time and help her realize her potential.

otoh - with a full complement of top offensive players, a pro team will give her lots of space to operate. she's really hard to shut down one-on-one. she looked much better when we had the twins and anna wilson on the outside. she had no problem playing well against south carolina and arizona 2 years ago in the final 4, and those teams were quite good, if not quite wnba good. she also did fine on the us national teams.
i agree that it really depends very much on the team that she will play for.
not sure 3-point shooting is required. in fact, both nicole and candice were relegated to spot-up 3-point shooting in the wnba, not used for their versatility, and it hurt their wnba careers.
haley is very much like draymond - an undersized 4 that can grab rebounds and run the offense. she will shine on a wnba team willing to use her like the warriors use draymond.

Article in this morning's SF Chron also expresses doubts about Haley, in particular her declining shooting percentage this year as well as her lack of outside shot and what has become an unreliable mid-range shot.

I think she will likely get dinged as "too poor of a shot to be a 3; too small to be a 4". On the other hand, she might stick because she has plus size, strength for a three and superior athleticism for a 4, and the flexibility she offers can be a positive given the limited number of roster spots (12) for each WNBA team.
