11-0 final.

Note that we chased their starter, Cooper after 2/3 of an inning.  Howell came in to close out the first, and gave up 5 runs in 6 1/3 inning.  Her ERA was 1.59.

Vawter pitched 7 scoreless innings, and struck out 7.  She gave up 8 hits, but they were all singles.  Wichita was 0/7 with runners in scoring position and only 3/15 with runners on base.  They left 8 runners on base.  Stanford, on the other hand, had 6 two-out RBI's, and hit .438 with runners in scoring position.

Either way Stanford softball is looking like a decent team so far this season.

Starting pitcher Cooper gave up 5 runs in first inning.  Howell replaced her in the first and pitched the rest of the game.

Yes, it's good we have cardboarders who can read livestats.   I saw Howell was in the end of the game and quickly assumed she started the game without checking.

Wichita State is ranked #23 with a good record so this game shouldn't hurt the RPI.

Stanford was up 7-0 after six innings.  They scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning.  I think that would explain it.    d4cohn can give an authoritative answer.

For the first six equal innings, we were up by seven or fewer runs.  WE hit the eight or more runs in the top of the seventh, so they played the bottom of the seventhh (to  the "equal inning" clause).

BC's explanation was perfect. 

What a great result in Wichita today! 5 more walks today for the Card on top of the 13 hits. It really is amazing how synergistic being patient at the plate and taking pitches can lead to not only base runners via the free pass, but also better pitches to ultimately get hits. 

We just dismantled a top 20 offense in the country (according to Massey) in their park, and all but won the contest in the 1st inning. 

UCA will be confident off their win in Fayetteville against Arkansas, so they won't be unnerved by facing our elite pitching talent. And Kansas already has a win over SEC school Mississippi, so they certainly could challenge us in Lawrence if our pitching doesn't get the necessary run support.

And it looks like we have a last minute third opponent that we are very familiar with from the Fayetteville Regional in '21: South Dakota State. It took an entire team effort to win in extras to advance over them to the regional final; and they won the first game of that regional against us. SDSU already has a win over a solid Nebraska side.

In game versus Kansas, Cardinal now batting in top of 2nd.  Score 0-0.  NiJaree Canady gave up one hit, but struck out the side in bottom 1st.

Second game scheduled for 10:30 am Pacific time has also been cancelled.  Both games are labelled as cancelled on the schedule so there won't be any attempt to reschedule them.  Maybe team can get on an earlier flight home if they don't want to go sightseeing in Lawrence.
