I don’t mind the aggressive serving but not a fan of Oglivie’s new jump serve. Most hits the bottom of the net. When she gets it over, it’s an easy serve to pass. I’d like her to go back to her jump float serve.

I’d also like to see a DS sub in for Kurt when she’s in the back row. She is struggling passing and digging. She’s doing okay in the front so far.

I agree.   Cawa got to play a little in the back row.  I saw her in some club tournaments and was impressed.

If the middles stay healthy Stanford should be ok in the middle.

The University of Wisconsin system looks like it has 25 campuses (more than I expected.) 13 of them are "comprehensive" and the other 12 are two-year branch campuses, so like community colleges.  Milwaukee appears to be the only campus other than the flagship in Madison to have R1 status from the Carnegie Classifications people.

I grew up in Milwaukee and went to University of Wisconsin-Madison.  At that time, the Madison campus was just "University of Wisconsin" and the Milwaukee branch was "UWM".  They later added "Madison" to the flagship campus name.  At some point in the 1970s they merged the more prestigious "University of Wisconsin" system with the "Wisconsin State University" system, in the name of efficiency/cost-saving.

And from another alum who grew up around Milwaukee - there is very little in the way of private colleges in Wisconsin. Marquette is by far the biggest at only about 8k. And then I don’t think any other private school is more than about 2500 kids. The public system plus Marquette dominates the state.

On a side note I loathe UWM - especially the athletic program. I won’t go into details, but it’s personal. Glad we finished it out tonight.

I hope they were starting to gel in the third set.
Minnesota should be interesting Sunday.

I didn't hear them say anything about why Miner was unavailable.

Maybe a stomach bug or something like that?

Ipar not adequate in the back row. Must sub her out. But she hit well
Our Middles were very good
Rubin was very very good
Yu was excellent. Congrats to her. We hit about 360.

Hambly really likes 6 rotation pins so we have the extra offensive options from the back row.  This year though, with the addition of Cawa who is likely to be our libero next year, and Beaven and Pringle, we have some solid DS options.  I'd like to see us play at least one of them regularly. 

Not sure whether Blyashov would have started were she healthy.  

I was excited to see middles get as many attempts as Rubin.  Andrew looked good and Francis is good.  Last year I felt we didn't get the middles involved enough to force our opponent's MB from doubling on the outside.  Not sure how much was due to our service return game, but liked seeing our middles pound the ball.

Oglive and Yu were the big service offenders with 5 errors apiece and just 1 ace combined. Yikes.

But Yu set pretty well. Elia was expectedly great.  Lizzy is more mobile than I expected. Hitting overall was pretty good. And yes serve reception had some major issues. I agree more rotation may be needed this year.
