Correct.
And nothing from the KZSU announcers about them.
Hope they're just resting up for Texas.

Right now on ABC, Kentucky and Nebraska are battling it out on a neutral court (in Nashville).
UK won the first two sets, UN came back to win the next two.
ETA: And Nebraska wins 3-2.

That’s my guess. Dinged up a little. Let ‘em heal for the bigger matches next weekend.

Just finished reviewing Friday's match. I think I know why the Saturday match wasn't televised. LBSU could not get advertisers. In the Friday match there were at least two commercial breaks that were simply those words in white with a blue background. The most significant advertiser was the Long Beach Airport. I don't think LBSU will host a tournament next year.

I saw that Texas swept Wisconsin in Madison 29-27, 25-20, 25-14 (Badger fans were complaining on VT that UW seemed to give up in the third set).
But I missed that Arizona State upset Penn State 3-1 (Penn State was #2 in the preseason poll, with 21 first place votes; ASU #13).
New poll later today.

New Poll:
https://www.avca.org/polls-awards/polls/?_season=2025&_divisions=division-i-women
Stanford steady at #6; big moves: Pitt dropped from 3rd to 9th; Arizona State up to #7 from #13. Texas up to #2, Kentucky #5; Nebraska now unanimous #1.

Arizona State, not Arizona. Impressive parity between the top-3 conferences (ACC, SEC, and BigTen) in the top 10:
BigTen: 1 (Nebraska), 5 (Penn State), 8 (Wisconsin)
SEC: 2 (Texas), 4 (Kentucky), 10 (Texas A&M)
ACC: 3 (Louisville), 6 (Stanford), 9 (Pitt)
Big12: 7 ASU
#6 seems about right. We beat #12 Florida and got creamed by #1 Nebraska. Big test against Texas.

Upcoming non-conference opponents Missouri and UCLA also in the 15-20 range.

Thanks, fixed it.
Agree about #6 for Stanford. Would be nice to win at least a set in Austin.

For those who follow college volleyball nationally, here's a tidbit of interest. One of the best setters in the country, Izzy Starck of Penn State, posted last night she is taking a pause from volleyball for the rest of the season to deal with her mental health.
On a Penn State vb message board there were a lot of posts starting out "Best wishes for a speedy recovery" and then were not so kind for a variety of reasons. Here are some examples:
She posted her resignation message at the start of a big game between PSU and Kentucky. The team had previously been told she was taking one week off. Many fans thought the post could have been made after the game. Also her post did not mention her team or coaches.
She removed her Penn State association from the top of her instagram account and deleted the past year's posts relating to Penn State and its national championship year.
It's now posted by some fans that some of her teammates have unfollowed her on Instagram. I don't know if that means anything or not. I do agree with the consensus that she won't be coming back to Penn State.

At Texas announcer says Stanford in 5-1 for first time. Wrong. Then she says no touch three times. Wrong. Maybe next she says Hook em Horns

Don’t encourage them, Bob.
Good on Hambly for getting his freshmen into this match. Big game experience is important.

Deer ESPN,
If you want to interview a player’s parent, please take it out of your commercial time, not the game.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
(Yeah, I know, happens all the time. Just putting my gripe on the record.)

Freshman are growing up before our eyes. Sayer and Parks (now in as the only setter with Yu out) looking really good. Can we complete a reverse sweep? Happy with the fight and grit. We took a punch and got back up. Solid play from Kurt and Rubin too. We've also had a ton of service errors all match and still in it.

My goodness. It’s one thing to come back from 1-0 down. Stanford gals say, “Nah, too easy. Let’s try it with 2-0.”

I beg to disagree. Sayer and Etzler played well. Etzler has exceeded expectations so far with her passing and her defense is getting there. Parks did not. Yes, she got Stanford to where it needed to be and be put in a position to win... but during crunch time, you could tell her sets, especially to the outside, were way off. Rubin and Kurt could do nothing but dink the ball over. In particular, with Stanford up 10-8 in the fifth, Parks set Kurt too low and too far off the net and all Kurt could do was free ball it over. The pass wasn't bad, the set was. And I'm not saying we would have won the point - Kurt could have sprayed the ball out of gotten blocked. But the point was the set was not there and it put Stanford behind the 8 ball. And that happened multiple times when it mattered the most to both Kurt and Rubin.
With that being said, Parks is going to be a good player for Stanford... but until she can get her consistency to the outsides down, Stanford will continue to struggle to put games away they should have won and I'd rather have Yu running the offense until that happens. Parks' sets to Sayer and Harvey were pretty spot on... just her sets (in-system and out-of-system) to the outsides were so inconsistent.
Hats off to Stanford though - definitely wasn't a result I was expecting and it proves we can definitely be a contender for the Final Four.
Though I do wish we would be more conservative with our serving when it's so late in the game (I'm looking at you Kurt... in both the second and fifth games).

Hambly has been clear about this over the years. He coaches the players to not worry about service errors. And it’s not clear to me that they can “take a little off their serves.“ But I defer on this to the many here who know the game better than me.
I agree with every single word you said except for that graf.

Sad end to an amazing comeback (in a hostile environment).
The team showed a lot of spirit. It's a young team that is learning.
Looking forward to see how they develop.
ETA: Stanford actually out scored Texas 104-102
