EDIT: there is an inaccuracy in this article. Miss Frist is not the first Stanford player selected to play in the Women's Lacrosse League. Ashley Humphrey who graduated from Stanford and played there before grad transferring to join her sisters at UNC plays for the Maryland Charm. Known for her lacrosse IQ, Miss Humphrey tallied the most points (3 goals, 6 assists) in a single WLL game so far last night. We watched WLL for the first time last night, and we enjoyed it. Last summer's Championship Series demonstration was fun but they played Sixes (Olympics format 5 field players + goalie) which looks more like a Wesy Genny drill than true field lacrosse. One improvement in the pro game was more space behind the goal which allowed more dynamic and creative offense.
Funny how they have Ashley’s assist record from her freshman year as an NCAA record even though she eclipsed the record in 2025. Ashley is probably the best lacrosse player ever at Stanford.

Did anyone know that lacrosse is the oldest varsity sport at Stanford without an athlete in the Stanford Hall of Fame?
That's interesting. Looks like field hockey, with a similar or lower level of success, has one. Any other sports not have a hall of fame inductee? Have mixed feelings on inducting a candidate who left here to win a national championship elsewhere.

Seems like Beach Volleyball doesn’t have one, but I don’t think anyone is eligible. You have to have finished competing 10 years ago.
I doubt Ashley would be considered. I would vote for Laura Shane if I was on the Hall of Fame board. She still is top 3 in many categories. Played on the US national team. Works on self-driving semi trucks now. Leslie Foard and Kelsey Twist are also good candidates.

Usc hires BC assistant Sam Apuzzo as their next head coach. Spencer still the Stanford HC for now.

USA Lacrosse selected two Stanford 2027 commits for the U19 team: Enna Corley - Attack/Midfield from California but plays for Hero's, a top Maryland club team (#3 in country of that class) and Charlotte Vanni who also plays attack/midfield. Charlotte is from Delaware and plays for NXT, the #10 club team in the country. My daughter has played against NXT (and probably lost) but not Hero's.

Stanford keeps churning assistant coaches.
Brian Kelly leaves after 1 season.
Colin Doyle from Canada is the new hire pending getting his paperwork approved (immigration?).
Why can't we hold on to assistant coaches for more than 1 year?
Why can't we get coaches with D1 women's lacrosse experience?
Maybe we are trying to get his daughter London Doyle '28 a lefty attacker to commit?

Also is it weird that assistant coach Emily Cummings bio never mentions lacrosse? Did she ever play the sport?

Weird that the program cannot recruit more experienced coaches.

It appears that Stanford has picked up 3 commits from 2028 and there are more 2027 commits than I realized. One of the 27 recruits plays for the same club that my daughter plays at but she's a different grade and on their top team. Our high school plays in a less competitive league and it wasn't one of the teams from the top league that we played last season so it's unlikely I will see her play until she gets to Stanford.

"I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Stanford!"
I guess still needs to be admitted. I hope the admissions process goes smoothly.
