Not a trivia question by rather an amazing trivia observation (via The Athletic)…
The best winning percentage by a starting MLB player in a season (min. 40 games):
Sandy Koufax .850 (LA was 34-6 in games he started in 1963)
Denny McLain .805 (Det was 33-8 in games he started in 1968)
Johnny Hopp .805 (St. Louis NL was 66-16 in games he started in 1942 - he played 1B)
Curt Casali .805 (SF is 33-8 in games in which he has started through Aug 17)
Additional note: The Giants are 19-2 in day games started by Casali.

Bill Freehan. Holds the record for most All Star games without being elected to the Hall of Fame -- 11 times an All Star. Top seven MVP votes three times. Only led the league in hit-by-pitch three times, thrown out on stolen base attempts once and intentional base on balls once. That'd be my guess. Or Bob Boone.

The answer was mixed in with another of my posts. Ivan Rodriguez is the career leader in putouts by a catcher.

Freehan was only on the HOF ballot one year and received only two votes. I suspect he may receive further consideration at some point by the Veterans Committee.
As has been documented numerous times over the years, the Hall is tough on catchers. Which raises the inevitable question in this part of the country - has Buster done enough to warrant HOF consideration or does he need another ring to solidify his candidacy?

I don't think another ring moves the needle since 1) BBHOF voters don't put much weight on championships the way that PFHOF voters do, 2) the difference between three rings and four isn't substantial.
For me Posey is absolutely a hall of famer since I value quality over quantity, but there is a substantial voting bloc that overvalues longevity and prioritizes cumulative numbers. Right now Posey has under 1,500 career hits, around 700 runs and RBI each and probably needs to stay healthy for at least another 2-3 years to beef up his case with voters who fixate on career numbers and arbitrary milestones.
BTW Gene Tenace won four rings (and was a World Series MVP) and posted a career OPS+ of 136 in 5,527 plate appearances (Posey's OPS+ is 127 in 5,471 plate appearances thus far). Tenace also has a higher career WAR and WAA for those that are so inclined. I'm not arguing that Tenace was a better player than Posey (Posey better IMO) but I'm illustrating that Posey probably needs to add to his case in the next few years to ensure being voted in by the writers.

If a player is a borderline HOFer, the rings can push him over the top. I think Posey is at that point - numbers say, “I’m not so sure” but rings, intangibles, especially his leadership skills*, defensive ability (particularly pitch framing) say yes. This season has certainly put him put on the short list of guys who will be under serious consideration.
* More than once, I have read about him being a “National League Jeter”. That kind of praise means a lot….

You are probably right, but the marginal benefit of rings goes down fairly quickly. Like, I could think "he never won a championship" might disadvantage a player who is on the edge, and "he led his team to multiple championships" can help. But I don't know how much of a difference going from three to four championships is going to make.
The one exception would be if he had could add a World Series MVP to his list of accomplishments.
Trivia time: who are the three players to have won the World Series MVP more than once.
