By this yardstick, the Cardinal are #22 in the country (and only #5 in the PAC-12, with even Cal surpassing us). I leave it to the quant jocks to critique the methodology but excluding women’s soccer (the pro league is just five years old) and including softball (which has underperformed as has been amply discussed on this board) probably dragged us down. Give us another five years and the Cardinal might claim this title, too!
With one-and-done's, do the basketball schools get 4 times as many shots at draft numbers? How would these numbers change if it counted only graduates of schools, not just whoever was admitted?

Let's see, how about named awards for most Olympic medals, or most world records? Or, how about median income of all scholarship athletes 10 years after graduation? (That might make an interesting article for some business publication.)

The author of this article has reviewed five years of Directors' Cup results for the Power 65 and ranked them:

Two quotes stood out to me:
"UCLA’s 748 points in spring sports were the most for any school in any season of 2017-18." Several of our fellow CardBoarders saw this coming. Fortunately, it was not enough to catch Stanford.
"The insurmountable leader in all-around excellence. Nobody has a better combination of motivated athletes, elite coaches, ideal climate and modern (yet not ostentatious) facilities. Catch the Cardinal if you can."

I don't think it had any influence on the final ranking because the numbers speak for themselves, but the author of that story is a Stanford parent. His daughter Brooke is a swimmer.

It certainly didn't have any effect on the rank-ordering of the list because that was a strictly numerical average finish in the Director's Cup over the past five years. There was no choosing to do, except for choosing to publicize the list at all.
I understand that his daughter swam quite well this past year, reaching All-American status in two individual events and a relay.
