Great post as usual. Thanks so much for keeping us up to date.
As to DBs remember we play 5 roughly half the time

Redshirt Watch. Here's some notations on redshirts regained and burned here at the end of the season. As a reminder, you can play in four games and still be eligible to redshirt.
- There were no Sun (Bowl redshirt) burns. In all, four freshman had their shirts burned: DE Thomas Booker, DE Andres Fox, CB Kendall Williamson, and WR Michael Wilson. I think three of those are clearly good burns. Without the new rule, the staff may have burned more shirts by playing freshmen in the second half of the season, but perhaps not. We've seen that they are reluctant to burn redshirts. Four has been standard.
- Sophomore WR Connor Wedington did not play in the Sun Bowl. Having played in only four games this season, he regains his redshirt.
- Incredibly, five players regained their redshirts this year. In addition to Wedington: sophomore OT/OG Foster Sarell, junior OLB Curtis Robinson, junior WR Donald Stewart, and senior S Ben Edwards. Of course, we now know that Edwards will not take advantage of the redshirt. We'll see if the others do.
- I have updated the eligibility placings for Wedington and the scholarship counts his class at the top of this thread. The regained redshirts definitely help the pipeline in certain areas, though that is mitigated by Edwards' departure.

Maybe do that in a new thread for 2019 personnel?

Bench Bunch. The following non-freshman non-injured (according to injury reports) scholarship players did not appear in the Sun Bowl.
- Sophomores
- C Drew Dalman. He's been on and off the field all season - played in seven games, with a start - though it is not always clear if that is for health or performance reasons. Do not know why he did not play in the Sun Bowl.
- DE Ryan Johnson. He's played in six games this year. Not sure if that is because of injuries or lack of performance.
- OT/OG Foster Sarell. Big Game was his third and last game of the season. Perhaps they did not want to risk further injury.
- WR Connor Wedington. He did not play in order to regain his redshirt, according to Coach Shaw.
- Juniors
- OG Nate Herbig...
- OLB Curtis Robinson. Played in two games this year. Is injury or performance holding him off the field? At any rate, he regained his redshirt; we'll see if that matters.
- RB Trevor Speights. Has played in nine games this year. He started as the backup to Bryce Love, but was supplanted by Cam Scarlett. Perhaps he's injured. Dorian Maddox got his snaps in the Sun Bowl, and looked good!
- WR Donald Stewart. The culmination of a season's enigma. Played in the first three games of the year, and then disappeared. I suppose he could be injured. Or he could just not be good. It is still surprising that he does not play at all, even on ST. He played as a true frosh, for goodness' sake. And he played in every game last year.
- Seniors
- C Brian Chaffin. I don't think he's injured, but he didn't play against Kal, either. In fact, after playing in nine games, he did not make another appearance after the Oregon State game. Does not suggest he will come back next year.
- OG Nick Wilson. I don't think he's hurt. His is a weird situation. He played in every game until Kal; then did not play in Big Game. Not sure if he got any PT at guard this year, and there was certainly opportunity. He was the starting Ogre for most of the season. I wonder if he is angry he never got to play on the line. But I don't know why he did not play in the Sun Bowl.
- Fifth-Years
- WR Isaiah Brandt-Sims. Did not have one appearance this year after playing in 11 games last year. Crazy.
- ILB Jordan Perez. After playing in every game last year, he made two appearances this year, his last being against ND. He did not record a statistic. Did he peak his first year? But perhaps he had a season-long injury. I dunno.
Note: The participation report lists Dylan Jackson, Dalton Smith, and Brandon Simmons as having appeared, and does not list Houston Heimuli as having appeared. According to SMF, these four reports are incorrect.

Note: Guess who DID make an appearance? Kaden Smith, Dylan Jackson, and Brandon Simmons! I'm guessing they got to go in for the kneel-down as a last hurrah...
-m.
Heimuli got a few (bad) ST snaps and 1 snap at fullback where he whiffed big time on a block.
Dylan Jackson can't bend his leg and didn't even travel with the team...Smith didn't play, and wasn't in on the kneel downs (I checked the full game footage on YouTube)...Simmons was in street clothes...so your note is incorrect on every count.
My guess is something is off with the participation report.

Thanks; corrected above. I was only going by the participation report, which is generally accurate. I wonder what happened in reporting those three as having appeared.

Brandt-Sims missed his final football season for medical reasons, but begins the track season fit.
This from today's story on the first indoor Track Meet.

Thanks, Bob. I wonder if he did not play for medical reasons, or for "medical reasons (wink wink)" in order to keep him at Stanford for indoor. At any rate, I am glad that the young man can get an extra year and compete on the track. Go IBS.
I'll change the chart to reflect this reported status.

How does that work? How can you have eligibility for indoor but not outdoor track?

Yes. For all intents and purposes (when I was young, I thought that the phrase was "for all intensive purposes"), indoor track and outdoor track are two different sports with identical rosters. Similar to, but even closer than, women's volleyball and beach volleyball teams. Indoor track season precedes outdoor, so someone could, say, not compete during indoor season (winter) while recovering from a training injury (or acclimating from football, as IBS did frosh year) and preserve a year of eligibility there while then competing during outdoor season (spring).

I am not convinced this one hasn't been flipped. [And I note I begin a grammar-related post with a double negative.]
I had been under the impression that this was a reference to the biblical phrase of God being in "all things in all places".

You are correct; they seem to have flipped the correct version and the eggcorn. See here:
https://grammarist.com/usage/all-in-all/
Quote:The idiom meaning everything being taken into account is all in all, not all and all. All in all is an emphatically redundant variant of in all, which has roughly the same meaning. In fact, for writers who value concision, in all is a good replacement for all in all.
