He self-reports a 4.0 GPA for those keeping track of academic qualifications.
This would be the 6th WR offer; good to see Shaw no longer lives by a 1 offer: 1 scholarship ratio, especially given the level of need.

Georgia is one of the top four football talent-producing states in the country (California, Texas, Georgia, Florida). We offer a bunch of guys from the first three consistently every year, and usually a couple Florida kids. Naturally, the states that produce the largest number of talented football player will have the largest subset of talented players with academic chops.

Per an ESPiN story, 5-star defensive lineman, Lebbeus Overton, the #1 prospect in the 2023 class is reclassifying to 2022.
His father said that his son is a 4.0 student, taking AP classes, and already had a few college credits.
Both his parents were academic advisers at the college level.
I wonder if we looked into any potential interest. He lists Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and TAMU as his top 5.

Could it have something to do with the prospect of getting him past admissions?

All offers are contingent on admissions, so unless he was a very marginal admissions prospect who really needed to up his academic game in order to have a chance, that’s unlikely. That being said, grades from fall semester of junior year are in, so I suppose it is possible they were waiting for those to come in before deciding whether it is worth pursuing further.

He’d be Stanford’s top rated recruit since 2017. With NIL money the way it is, and Stanford’s team struggling, I think this will be a very difficult recruitment to win. But hey, it’s worth a shot!

I'm not in any way, shape, or form a Shaw apologist, but it seems to me offers come in different categories for all schools, and Stanford being Stanford, there are more categories than most schools.
- There are recruits everyone wants that Stanford throws its hat in the ring for, as a shot in the dark
- There are recruits Stanford feels are realistic possibilities it wants to see a little more from academically before offering
- There are recruits Stanford invites to camps that impress and earn offers
- There are emergency Plan B and C offers after camps are over and top possibilities are off the board
My guess is Rashada falls into the second category listed above because some grades came in and/or Stanford heard he is planning to take AP classes.

Yeah, some people seem to want to jump to the conclusion in every situation like this that Shaw screwed the pooch and this is one more piece of evidence that he is a lazy recruiter.
I don't think you have to be a Shaw apologist to suspect that there might be other reasons such as academics. From what I understand a 4.0 doesn't mean all that much unless it includes some AP courses. I also don't think you can take the GPA that some recruits report on the internet totally at face value.

It's not a coincidence that a massive offer spree happens first week or 2 of February in most cycles.
First semester junior year grades for a ton of schools come out in mid-late Jan. For example, recent OL offer Simione Pale (who by the way is an academic stud in multiple AP classes...book him) posted his on 1/31.

Many coach visits to prospects' high schools over the past few weeks no doubt included requests for transcripts/status reports on class schedules. A significant number of recent offers are prospects whose high schools one or more of our coaches visited. Calvin Simpson-Hunt, Sam Pendleton, Sam Williams, Duce Robinson, and Tiger Bachmeier are all examples.
Finally, in the case of Rashada specifically, I for one am ecstatic that our "one active offer to a QB at a time" policy has clearly been nixed. As with many things about this staff, better late than never I guess.

The complaint that Shaw is slow to adapt to new recruiting realities is much more accurate than the idea that he never changes. Shaw will usually figure it out, after all other options have been exhausted.
