This was some bad football between two bad teams, and special teams stole the game for us, but the only things that matter are 24-23 and 10 wins in 11 years. Between the pandemic and the memorable ending, this is was a Big Game that will be remembered for decades, and I'm glad the scoreboard was in our favor at the end. Congratulations to the boys and the coaching staff.

300 total yards and 8 punts on offense. Gave up 241 on the ground.
Special teams were special and sealed the deal for the Cardinal. The hold on Mills int was brobdingnagian, too.
Big win in Big Game.

Whoa - those posts earlier this week, when it mentioned cal's problems with special teams: they were way worse than advertised. I'll skip over the muffed punt, the two blocked kicks - what may have been the most pathetic was the onside kick. My heart was pounding as they teed it up on the Stanford 35. A recovery and the GW FG is all set up around the 25 with 3 time outs. And the kick is nowhere close to staying inbounds!

It was a thing of beauty, like Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Watching the players re-take the Axe brought a little joy, which has been a rare occurrence lately.
