Not sure how we stop them in OT, though... assuming we don't blow it with 30 seconds left.

Here is where I will note that UCLA had a Delay of Game, after a touchback.

One crazy game. At least I give us credit for hanging in there and continuing to fight.

Well, the Pac-12 is certainly putting on a show tonight!

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - BostonCard - 12-19-2020

Per ESPN's win probability meter, Stanford had a 90% chance of winning at the half, and UCLA had a 99% chance of winning when they had 1st and 10 at the Stanford 27 up by 7 with 2 minutes and 30 seconds left in the game.

Speaking of Couging it, this is reminiscent of a game with Wazzu where we led 42-14 in the third quarter and ending up losing 49-42.

The Reuben Mays game in 1984...I was there...

The question is, which team coug'd it?  The one that was up 20 - 3 at the half or the one that was up 34 - 20 with 6 minutes left?

This would be a good time for a stop.

If we can answer with a touchdown, I want us to go for two. I will accept all responsibility if we fail on the conversion.

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - BostonCard - 12-19-2020

Fehoko now has over 200 yards receiving.

BC

Sanders is our new vulture.  Two wildcat touchdowns.

BC

Mills now has 400 yards passing, but those three INTs loom large.

Doing something like that just isn't in Shaw's DNA.

Let's go, defense! One stop!

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - BostonCard - 12-19-2020

Probably should have gone for 2.

Fehoko with another TD.

Laces were facing the wrong way on the PAT, and we hit the upright... and in.

Who is going to break serve here?

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - BostonCard - 12-19-2020

We give up a TD on 4th and 18.

CHip Kelley will go for 2, so this will end here one way or another (not feeling good about it).

BC

Fark.  A hold in the end zone negates an intentional grounding so UCLA is going to get another shot.

BC

Wow, we finally get a stop on a run and win the game!

What a bizarre ending to a bizarre season. Not a pretty win, but a memorable one, one we'll be talking about for decades. Go Stanford!

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - terry - 12-19-2020

Never a doubt! Just like Shaw planned it!  :-)

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - DenverCard - 12-19-2020

Crazy year.  Nothing at stake.  No fans.  And yet what a game!  It'll be memorable to me both because of the ridiculous shifts in momentum and because of its dream-like quality.  Like nothing I've ever witnessed.

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - BostonCard - 12-19-2020

It's a meaningless game in a meaningless season... but I was still happy to see us take the win.  To end up 4-2 for the season is quite an accomplishment, all things considered, especially playing the last three games on the road without coming back to Stanford.  I'm glad we aren't going to a bowl game.

Not sure why Kelly went for two, but I'm glad he did.
I wouldn't have given a nickel for our chances when Mills threw that pick six putting us down 34-20.

RE: GAME THREAD -- Football vs. UCLA - terry - 12-19-2020

That game has to be one of Stanford's best comebacks ever.  All the momentum was against Stanford, but they rallied for two TDs in the last 2:30 to tie it up. Then a win in double overtime. That showed some real resilience, some guts.

What a nice way to end the season!
