That was strange. Tara said some players had problems. That wasn’t the term she used exactly but that all will be ready for ASU

Wasn't it Harbaugh who liked to say some of his players had "issues"?

Wasn't it Harbaugh who liked to say some of his players had "issues"?

I would guess it might mean challenges in their personal/family lives perhaps related to COVID.  I would be very surprised if it was team or chemistry issues as Tara went out of her way to say there were none of those things when the team went on its extended road trip earlier in the season.

I wasn't at the btb, but I thought Bob meant minor injuries, bumps and bruises, not life issues.

A couple more tidbits:
Bobbie Kelsey was the coach when Britney played at Virginia Tech.
Tara said she expects Ashten to be back and that she's doing well. Tara expects everyone at this weekend's games.
She wants Kiana to return next season but said that will be Kiana's decision. (What she didn't say is that it also depends on whether Ki could be admitted to a Stanford grad program.)
She said the Pac-12 might allow up to 100 fans per team at the tournament. However, she also alluded to that possibility for the NCAA tournament. It wasn't clear which one.
No surprise, she said everyone really misses the fans.

A couple more bits -- I think Tara also said that she thought the NCAA tournament would allow a small number of fans. She definitely said that about the Pac 12, as above.

She also commented about K's recent terrific play and said that she'd like to see her get a Pac-12 player of the week -- but her outstanding performance in the Oregon game was after the player of the week selection time for this week -- so she'll need to have a great game this coming weekend to pair with it to have a chance.

There is no rule that says that a fifth year player must be enrolled in a graduate program to stay at Stanford.  Obviously, being able to leave with a co-terminal degree is a big advantage, but it is not a requirement for continued enrollment.  Williams could decide to stay at Stanford, take a relatively light courseload for fun (or get a second major) and graduate with her BA or BS in Science Technology and Society after winter quarter 2022 without ever applying for grad school. 

Of course, she could also decide to see if she will be drafted into the WNBA (she's the last pick in the first round in this WNBA mock draft: https://wbasketballblog.com/2021/01/13/2021-wnba-mock-draft-version-1-0/) or she could decide to pursue a graduate degree at another school, in which case being admitted to a grad program at Stanford might be important for keeping her.

A couple of us talking about something Williams said recently. That was she is just taking 2-3 classes this qtr. possible is is graduating in March. Thus the talk about Grad School

You only need 6 credit hours per quarter to remain eligible for DI.    You need to have 80% of the coursework done toward a degree by the end of the fourth year.  I don't think the NCAA has any requirement for the last 20%.

stanford tried their best to lose that game. pao pao played like a freshman, lots of mistakes. if stanford kept whipping the ball around with their superior passing, they win this game easy. too many mental lapses by the cardinals. those lapses will cost them in a tournament game.
