Wins in April count just as much as in September. It’s great to see both Bay Area teams off to a good start.

Incredibly stupid rule. Even worse than starting with a guy on second in extras. Here's a solution to quicken the games: keep the batter in the box and make the pitcher pitch promptly.

Agreed. I really like the guys who work fast. Watch some old video of Bob Gibson. Here's an example. During the 1968 season, this was the game in which he gave up the second most runs (5) and hits (10). Time of game? 2:03.

BTW, that knucklehead Farhan Zaidi and overrated incompetent Gabe Kapler have shepherded the SF Giants to the third-best record in MLB (tied with your Oakland A's!) at 14-8.

The Giants OPS is now 19th in MLB, after falling as low as (at least) 27th, though their batting average is still 24th. Last year, the Giants were 5th in OPS and 8th in runs scored. Be interesting to see what happens if they get closer to last year's figure.
Alternatively, the Giants' ERA is 2nd in MLB at 2.94 and was 18th in MLB at 4.64 in 2020. If the Giants regress to that figure, they'll settle back to middle of the pack.
I tend to think the former scenario is more likely, given that there's been very little turnover in hitters whereas the pitching staff has been overhauled.

The Pitching is absurd. Just recorded their 6th shutout, which means they are averaging one shutout every four games. Hard to imagine they keep that pace up and finish the season with 42 shutouts. Of course, they are also on pace to win 105 games and that seems impossible to believe too, like Buster Posey being on pace for 35 HRs.
The Giants O/U on wins this season was 75.5. Anyone take the over on that?

The MLB record for most shutouts in a season is 32, by the White Sox in 1906 and the Cubs in 1907 and 1908. I can't find the live ball era record.

And for those really interested in inside baseball has anyone watched the MLB network game with four ex-players commenting real time? Over the weekend watched Yanks/Indians with Sabathia, Carlos Pena, Harold Reynolds and Smoltz. Not play by play but fantastic as they discuss pitching and hitting.

Season record is the Cubs and White Sox with 32 each, over 100 years ago, as I posted earlier. Last pitcher to throw 50 shutouts career...no idea. I'd guess Gibson or Koufax, maybe Marichal.
BTW, as of this moment, Giants and Dodgers are tied with 15-8 records.

Grover Cleveland “Pete” Alexander with 16 in one season.
Bert Blyleven reached 50 in 1984. He finished with 60 in 22 seasons. Doubtful we’ll see another one.

As of this a.m., Kansas City Royals have best record in baseball at 15-8 (.652). Giants, Dodgers, and Red Sox are tied at 16-9 (.640).

After I wrongly guessed Randy J, I looked it up. Isnt Ryan the last? Or are you only focusing on the year they got no 50?

Ryan recorded his 50th in 1983. Blyleven in '84. I think Ryan retired with one more than Bert but I haven't looked it up.
