RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - newguy - 09-04-2022

thanks Langdude.
i'm especially happy for Zephron Lester.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - TrumpCard - 09-04-2022

Thanks, Langdude. That’s a lot of DBs who played but didn’t make the two-deep. Seems like Akina was making a statement.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - old spanish trail - 09-04-2022

Thanks Langdude. I'm trying to keep track of Aristotle.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - Phogge - 09-04-2022

He could be studying abroad. Perhaps in Athens.

  • TE Donovan Jones, fr., made his collegiate debut (obviously, since he is a frosh). Congratulations!

Frosh Force. Eight true freshmen played against the Tartar Control. None recorded any statistics unless noted.
  • QB Ashton Daniels
  • TE Donovan Jones, a walk-on (as mentioned above).
M*A*S*H Unit. The following players did not appear against the Raiders due to injury. I am basing this on both official reports and reporting done by Cardboarders. Please do correct me if I am wrong.
  • Edge
    • Ernest Cooper, fr.

Commentary committee!

- Donovan Jones has the same number as Mitch Leigber, and the participation report is wrong. A walk-on true freshman tight end playing would be WILD to me.

- If frosh Cooper is included, other injured frosh (Swanson, Caughey, Ayomanor, possibly Edwards) should be included IMO.

- I actually don't know if Ashton Daniels has this game counted towards burning his shirt. He only came on once, and the play was negated by a false start penalty. Technically he did not take a snap.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - msqueri - 09-06-2022

Cooper winning scout team player of the week suggests he wasn't hurt, unless somebody saw him in civilian clothes on the sideline?

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - BobK - 09-06-2022

Cooper was in a jersey with his number no pads, not uniform pants

Thanks for this SMF!

1) Great point re: Leigber. I should have surmised the same. I usually check numbers in situations like that, but neglected to do so for some reason. I'll make the change.

2) Yes, I'd love to include all injury denotations that are known. Cooper was the only frosh I knew was injured. I'll include the others if you are sure (or reasonably sure) they are injured.

3) And a really good point about Daniels! Yes; he did not have an official appearance! That's cool.

Ayomanor and Caughey are definitely injured. Caughey in a sling and Ayomanor on crutches. Bummer on Ayomanor, as he was reportedly lighting it up in camp. Year or 2 down the road at WR was worrying me, but a major sigh of relief if we've immediately over-recruited multiple classes with him and Reuben.

Swanson was in a boot during training camp but not sure if he's still injured now (will still be redshirting regardless). I thought someone said something about Edwards holding a clipboard or something, but can't confirm that either.

[*]TE Sam Roush

Roush did record a tackle on special teams. A very convincing solo tackle on the fourth kickoff.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - SamuelMcF - 09-09-2022

@Langdude, upon rewatch, Cooper was not injured. I saw him clearly wearing pads & helmet.

Thanks, CTC. You are, of course, correct. I think that I checked for tackles by frosh defensive players, not considering that offensive players are on ST... Duh! I'll change my text above.

Thanks as always, SMF, for the thorough reporting. I love being precise! I'll change my text above and the chart.

Troy

Walk-On Union Watch. Only three non-scholarship players got PT against SC. No statistics were recorded in the game unless noted. In addition...
Frosh Force. Five true freshmen played against South Central. None recorded any statistics unless noted.
Bench Bunch. The following non-injured non-frosh scholarship players did not appear against the Trojans. There were a lot.
M*A*S*H Unit. The following players did not appear against Southern Cal due to injury. I am basing this on both official reports and reporting done by Cardboarders. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

I thought I saw Sinclair.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - SamuelMcF - 09-16-2022

Keck is injured.

Ashton Daniels indeed came in for a snap, and actually played it this time. (It was a 4th down option handoff to Filkins that got the 1st.)

Ungar is healthy, and did not play in favor of Roush.

Thanks, Langdude.  What great news that multiple true freshmen are carving out playing time in big in-conference games.  The list of healthy non-freshmen who didn't see the field makes clear that Stanford isn't just giving PT to be polite.  So that reinforces the inference that PT for a group of true freshmen signals confidence in those players.  I'm looking forward to seeing Aybar on the field if and when he returns.

Aybar and Keck are both out for the rest of the year.
