And they're off! All matches have completed the 1st hole. Stanford once again nailed the start. All 5 golfers parred #1 - and 3 of them won when Oregon missed par putts. Most of the Oregon golfers have not trailed at all during match play. Only Nielsen ever trailed by more than one hole. How will Oregon respond if they fall behind Stanford and the match gets later and later?

All golfers have completed two holes and we are up 3-1-1, with 1 hole leads by Seay and Krauter, Zhang up 2 (through 2), Englemann all square and Heck down 1.

Krauter takes another hole and is up 2 through 4. Given all the momentum swings in match play, the strong start is great, but not too meaningful.

Why am I see only stuff about yesterday on the Golf Channel? Oh, they aren't going to cover the early holes. Sigh.
Maybe I was wrong about several of them.
Two up 3, one up 2, one even, one down 1.

They started the live broadcast at 2 pm with live look-ins from 1:30 to 2.
Seay and Krauter have been rock solid so far. Just making pars and letting their opponents make mistakes. Oregon has definitely wobbled. Seay is 2 up after 6. Krauter is 3 up after 5.
UPDATE - Seay is 3 up after 7, Krauter is 4 up after 6 and Zhang is 2 up after 4 after losing to a birdie.
Englemann and Heck are all square.
I said that Stanford might need a little luck. It started with Krauter on the 1st hole. She was over the green with a delicate, downhill pitch to the hole. She hit a good shot, but it still was going to run 10-15 feet past the hole until it hit the flagstick and ricocheted 3 feet away. She made the putt for par.

Seay and Krauter have good momentum. Zhang is getting the ball rolling, up 2 thru 4. Englemann and Heck are tied...but this is still earlyish. Stay focused!

Oregon's body language would also seem to say that they are in trouble. They are reeling.
On the other side, Stanford just keeps making putt after putt after putt. Seay had a 15 footer for par on #9 and Chen thought it might be the start of her comeback. Seay rolled it in. It's been a beautiful thing to watch so far.
Great to see the play of Englemann as well. She is 1 under through 9 and 1 up on Chacon.
Also of note - the player that Krauter is beating won the P12 championship this year.

Holy Krauter! Six up through 9 holes. Seat and Zhang are both up 3, and Englemann is up 1. Only Heck is down, and only by 1.

Seay cannot miss! She made a birdie putt from 20-25 feet on #11 and her opponent missed from about 6 feet. Seay is 4 up with 7 to play.
The last group has completed its front 9 and here is where we stand.
Seay is 4 up through 11
Krauter is 4 up through 11 (Lu has birdied 10 and 11)
Englemann is 2 up through 10
Heck is 1 down through 9
Zhang is 3 up through 9

Krauter having lost three straight holes to go from 6 up through 9 to 3 up through 12… is a thing. A thing I do not love.
