Okay, now I'm confused. I thought you were using "StanU" as a shortcut to typing "Stanford." Although, the capital U sort of cancels out the time savings because it's only 3 letters shorter. Now you are using both. What's the deal? Are you trying to coin a new nickname? Branding your user name?

Shouldn't it be "mentionees"?

Damn right! We need some Jack Lamberts.

Andrew Luck would say bring in Pep Hamilton, now stuck at a floundering NFL Texans cul-de-sac.
He only makes $1M there to coach QBs.
Important expertise for us.
AND bring back Mason as DefCo; they worked together (2010-2012) at Stanford.
Say whatever you want about Mason at Vandy (an impossible post in the SEC in my view), he worked great for us as "the Duck Whisperer".
Now at OKST, he only makes $1.1M at a state school.
Plenty of budget at Stanford to bag them both.

I want someone who understands Stanford just enough to (a) not embarrass the school and (b) recruit like crazy and © hire great coordinators and assistants who can recruit coach and (d) get an S&C coach who drastically reduces injuries and increases strength and (e) wins like crazy.
Is that so much to ask?

There's Stan the Man, Stan Freberg and Stan Lee.
Perhaps he's a ManU fan.

Just about sums up the last four years.
C’mon. The horse is dead. Quit beating it…
I think there is a relevant point here.
Coach Shaw seems to be trying to say that he's leaving the program in good shape.
There's not the recent desired wins, but they are "close" to being there.
I think that is a false and misleading narrative.
I was sympathetic with Coach Shaw during press conference until he said if still had one of top 3 running backs healthy we'd now be getting ready to play in a bowl game.
He lost me there.
Would agree if we had the OC/DC/S&C/Other assts from 2010 to 2014. In that case, I'd say yes, we're not that far away.

With the BIG LOSS to the hated Wolverines in Columbus, plenty of Buckeye Alums were screaming for Urban Meyer on Saturday after the game.
Urban Meyer could probably command $10M at a big chair like that.

Oh for goodnesss sakes, he is just trying to keep the players motivated. I mean, would you rather him say "you guys suck, and you will never accomplish anything?" It would seem to me that keeping players believing in themselves would help the next coach.

I agree that it is not productive now to bash Coach Shaw. That said I hope the powers that be don't believe Stanford is thisclose to being competitive. Because this program needs a massive retrofit in virtually every facet to get back to even competitive let alone winning/dominant.

No Pep Hamilton. He couldn't run a decent offense in Indy even with Andrew Luck. And he hasn't done anytihng of substance since.

My wild and crazy idea for Stanford's next coach - Dabo Swinney. Even though Clemson just gave him a 10 year contract extension, they might be getting tired of him after 15 years. His trend line is down lately, at least compared to what his teams accomplished from 2015-2020. At the very least, he ticks a lot of boxes - proven winner, program builder, big time recruiter.

Ha,
Nice jovial Online Community here.
I just use StanU as a shorthand for Stanford University.
I must admit I am a fan of Stan Getz; For anyone who hasn't heard his jazz rendition of 'The Girl From Ipanema' ...please google and listen to it ...it is timeless.

Any intel on Greg Roman? Seems like with his on field success he would have had more interest as a HC before now.

Yes, we need a whole new approach to making our players tough. Perhaps a wilderness training retreat. Make them hunt for their food and cook it over a camp fire.

The girl from Ipanema has got to be near 90 unless she has cast her fate to the wind.
