Apparently, Esky had a zoom meeting with the Japanese press and confirmed that Rin-chan (I’m calling him that until I know what nickname they give him) will receive a full ride. Major undecided (obviously) but interested in start-ups. Didn’t make the decision based solely on baseball, not worried about being able to handle the academic side because Stanford admitted him, Esky looking forward to having him for 2 or 4 years, thinks he’s a “golden egg” on par with Ohtani (and comparable to Guerrero) and a fine young man with well-defined goals in life.

So we will have him for just 2 seasons. Hopefully it was his choice not to play in 2024 otherwise it seems like a self-inflicted wound.
The Athletic article posted on 2/13 says 2027.

I wonder if scholarships matter much with NIL now. Presumably, Stanford's NIL is covering a good chunk of expenses.

Detailed Q&A with Esky. They had multiple zoom conversations followed by an all-day visit to campus, seeing the facilities, sitting in on classes, meeting future teammates. He will be taking “pre-classes” from spring and practicing with the team, playing summer ball (doesn’t mention fall but that is implied) and officially playing in the 2025 season starting in February. And that many coaches from other sports as well as the entire Stanford community have congratulated him and are very excited. (No kidding!)

It was expected that hitting will drop this season. I just didn't expect it to drop this much. Scott looked promising. I'm surprised that Lim started over Keenan and Volchko.

Injuries have plagued the men's volleyball team, sadly. Men's gymnastics is probably our best chance of keeping our championship streak alive. Michigan and Oklahoma will be tough to beat.
