It’s hard to keep track and ND is especially weird. I had a family member telling me I had counted wrong because VT was in the big 12. I almost believed them.

ND at Stanford will be played at 2 pm this Friday. Streamed on ESPN+.
ND defeated the top seed in the quadrant Mississippi State 2-0 by holding them to 1 shot on goal. It must have been a chippy game. 32 fouls total. In contrast, Stanford and Arkansas played 110 minutes with only 21 fouls.

As to why Boahmah is playing defense as opposed to offense... well we just don't have defenders. You had Evans out for a good chunk of the season because of the U20 World Cup and then injuries galore throughout the season to Emri (out of the season), Brandt, Pagador, and Aikey (out for the season). I also haven't been super impressed with Pagador when she was in, nor Harrison because I think they lack the speed necessary. I think Boahmah has done well transitioning from forward to defense; I'm curious if she'll return to forward or will maintain her spot in the back.
Hopefully next season, our defense will be healthy enough where we won't have to play Aikey in the back - that's been the biggest bummer of all the injuries because she is much more effective in the midfield or forward for Stanford.

In other matches, Wake Forest and USC (boo) are tied at 2 late in the second half. Penn State is up 1-nil on North Carolina at halftime. Duke/Va Tech is tomorrow.

Great win for the Card!!!
Having watched Stanford lose at Notre Dame a few weeks ago, the game in which Jasmine Aikey was injured, I gave them no chance to win today's game, notwithstanding the fact that it was at home. I thought they lacked sufficient athleticism, a feeling that was exacerbated in seeing that most of the starters on ND seemed 5'10" or more. But Stanford was aggressive and poised throughout and they scored two nice header goals. Most of Stanford's players simply looked better than the baseline that I had established for them in my mind.
Earlier this year someone on this site suggested Stanford a top-20ish team and I thought that was spot-on. And here they are heading to the College Cup. Fantastic!
P.S. I retract everything I wrote about Paul Ratcliffe in a prior post.

Harvey (first goal) is 5’10”, but Kitahada (second goal) is only 5’7”. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time. Nice game for Kitahada, who assisted on the first goal and scored the second.

Stanford made their chances count. ND looked extremely dangerous in the beginning and I really thought it would be a long afternoon for the Stanford’s defense. They remained tough and Elise Evan had a goal line block to keep the game 0-0. Boamah was fantastic on the left back. When she was subbed out late in 2nd half, ND attacked Brandt on the left and I really thought ND was going to score. Brandt struggled on the left but did just enough. Was happy to see Boamah back in the game.
Kitahata was fantastic and the freshman starters. Fantastic game all around.

The second goal was a nicely designed and executed play, with Kitahata starting at the near post, two players moving to the left of the goal to attract the attention of their markers or zone defenders, and Kitahata sprinting along the goal line and popping out into the vacant middle. And of course an excellent corner kick by Bhuta.
That's the second long header Harvey has scored in the postseason by slightly redirecting a long pass to the far post, which seems to me a highly skilled play. The other was the first against UConn to tie the game in the 86th minute.
