What two Hall of Fame pitchers were told to retire because they were in danger of not retaining use of their throwing arm? Hint: One ignored the advice.

Oops... Niekro was the THIRD. Missed it, good for you Bobbbb. There are two more.

Also correct on the sac flies. Charged as an at bat. Strange that there was a short period with this rule. Ted's manager Joe Cronin estimated 14 0r 15. So he really hit .419 or .420. People criticize Williams' approach of taking close pitches but most of the previous .400 plus averages were made by non-power hitters. Williams hit many balls off walls and over them. IMO the greatest hitter ever and a character in a sport overwhelmed by bland personalities.

I'm going to guess the Giants. Randy Johnson, Mathewson and somebody else, probably in the 19th Century. Spahn is one of three Braves to win 300. Two others did but at least one won of them was on another club.

The other pitcher who was told to quit was Lefty Grove who won exactly 300, the last coming at age 41 with the Red Sox and in the same year that Williams hit .406.

Came across a newspaper cutout of the '38 NFL draft inside the first Street and Smith Football issue (1940). Three Indians, one Gael, a couple Broncos and two from USF picked.

There are ten NFL teams, five still playing with today's nicknames... Packers, Giants, Bears, Lions, Eagles. Redskins in Washington, the Cardinals in Chicago make seven.

Of the other three teams one still in its original city with a defunct nickname. Name the team and old nickname.
One has moved and retained the nickname. Where did it move from and to?
One other moved and changed nicknames. What city and nickname did it abandon?

No idea really since I only follow the Chiefs and, to a lesser extent, the 49ers, but I imagine that today's Arizona Cardinals are direct descendants of the erstwhile Chicago Cardinals, via Saint Louis I believe.

1) The Pittsburg Pirates became the Pittsburgh Steelers
2) Th Cleveland Rams became the LA Rams when the AAFC merged three teams with the NFL. The AAFC Cleveland Browns stayed put with an NFL franchise.
3) The Brooklyn Dodgers left the borough behind. A long sequence of events has culminated in what is known today as the Indianapolis Colts.
